Hi, Sharie here, your vocal coach. Let me explain: when aiming for the pitch of the notes, the mouth shape will change from a natural oval mouth position to a smiling position, and the tongue will be stuck in the back of the throat.

A smiling mouthshape will prevent the soft palate from lifting to its full potential and also restrict the sound from flowing through the space where you yawn, which is essential for creating sound resonance, tone, and power when singing.

Kiaora whanau.👋 I had Rebecca sing on the mic today. Once she got past being shy, her voice started to relax into the song. 🎵

As you can hear her high notes are beautiful. And her low notes have more depth in the tone, more then she had in last weeks lesson. Her voice is also flowing and she's singing with ease. Shes only 11 whanau. Beautiful singing Rebecca.🤩

Kiaora whanau.👋 I hosted a live singing workshop over the weekend. These rhythm patterns are quite tricky, and they require lots of practice if you want to have clear pronunciation when you sing.

I'm focusing on singing the correct rhythm patterns to my students, so they know exactly when to start and finish each phrase. Notice how I'm not singing into a microphone. I'm projecting my voice correctly and there's no sign of strain in the back of my throat.

My vocals are cutting through the BVS and I'm not running out of breath. Passion is icing, technique is cake, you need both to sing effectively.🤩😍

Hey whanau 👋 shout-out to my daughter, Dany from Wirihana Supplies. She works on different film sets around NZ, mostly on lighting, and camera work. She was able to show me a few things about how to position my camera correctly.

We also had a very productive singing lesson today. Her tone is resonating through her chest and face. And shes beginning to recognize the sound of her voice when its projecting forward and when it isn't. This was a great lesson, Dany. Your a fast learner my girl.🙂❤️ 🎶 🫠
