🎶 Little hands, big sounds!

Our tamariki had fun exploring different sounds with drums, triangles, tambourines and xylophones. 🥁✨

This kind of play gives children the freedom to follow their curiosity, try things in their own way, and learn while having fun.

We love seeing where their ideas take them. 💛

A little snapshot of life at Herne Bay Playcentre 💛

Cardboard creations,painted cubby house, rainbow waterfall… and usually a fair bit of mess along the way 😄

At Playcentre, children learn through play, and parents and caregivers are part of the journey too. Come along, play alongside your child, meet some local families and be part of a friendly community.

Our Open Week is coming up from 17–21 August, so if you’ve been wondering what Playcentre is all about, come by for a visit. Bring the kids, have a play, and experience what a morning at Playcentre is really like.

🌈 Herne Bay Playcentre Open Week is coming!

From 17–21 August 2026, families with children aged 0–6 are warmly invited to pop in, have a play and see what Playcentre is all about.

There’ll be plenty of time for little ones to explore, create and make new friends, while parents and caregivers can meet other local whānau in a relaxed and welcoming space.

🌙⭐ A little glitter goes a long way! ⭐🌙

Our playdough table was buzzing with creativity as tamariki created sparkly stars, shiny moons, and all sorts of special treats.

There was rolling, pressing, sprinkling, sharing, and plenty of conversation as ideas came to life in little hands.

Every creation was unique, reflecting each child's imagination, curiosity, and sense of wonder.

Simple materials, endless possibilities, and lots of joyful learning through play. ✨

🍪✨ Little Bakers, Big Smiles at Herne Bay Playcentre! ✨🍪

Our tamariki had a wonderful time baking cookies together today! From measuring and mixing to sharing and creating, every step was filled with learning, teamwork, and joy.

Space groups for your baby at Playcentre around Auckland. Space groups will start in the week beginning 20 July 2026.

Space is a great way to enjoy some special time with your baby while meeting other parents with babies the same age. Our groups are relaxed, safe, and nurturing environments that provide a variety of activities for you and your baby.

🍦💛 Whanaungatanga & Manaakitanga in action at Herne Bay Playcentre 💛🍦

Today’s play was a beautiful reminder of what makes our centre so special. With an ice cream maker brought from home by one of our tamariki, the playdough play became a hub of creativity, sharing, and connection.

Through this simple activity, we saw whanaungatanga—children and whānau coming together, building relationships, collaborating, and learning from one another. There was so much joy in working side by side, taking turns, and celebrating each other’s ideas.

We also experienced manaakitanga—caring, kindness, and generosity. From offering a turn with the ice cream maker to encouraging friends in their creations, our tamariki showed such beautiful respect and support for one another.

Moments like these highlight the magic of play and the strength of our Playcentre community. Ngā mihi nui to the whānau who contribute pieces of home to enrich our shared space 💛
