🇼🇸 Happy Samoan language week 🇼🇸
Talofa lava,
We have started our Samoan Language Week with many exciting Samoan activities. Our tamariki enjoyed colouring the Samoan flag, singing Samoan songs during mat time, and dancing to Samoan Siva music. Through these experiences, children are learning about Samoan culture, language, and traditions while building confidence, coordination, and a sense of belonging. It has been wonderful to see everyone participating with joy and enthusiasm.

Kia Ora whānau,
Today our tamariki enjoyed exploring both their indoor and outdoor environments. They engaged in a variety of experiences including playing in the sandpit, building with blocks, reading books, drawing, and developing their physical skills while climbing on the monkey bars. These activities supported their creativity, problem-solving, literacy, fine motor, and gross motor development while encouraging confidence and enjoyment in their learning through play.

Kia Ora whānau,
Today the big kids developed their early literacy skills as they learn to identify and recognise their own names during the daily attendance routine. They confidently found their name cards and placed them on the attendance board, showing growing independence and a sense of belonging within the group. Throughout this experience, there was rich language exchanged between the children as they talked with one another, helped their peers, and discussed whose names were on the board.
This routine supports their transition to school by encouraging name recognition, print awareness, communication skills, and self-management skills that are important for future learning environments.

Kia Ora whānau,
Today our tamariki had a wonderful day enjoying outdoor fun and dancing together with lots of excitement and energy. They also explored play dough activities where they used their creativity and imagination to create different shapes and designs. During puzzle play, our tamariki learnt about shapes and developed their problem-solving skills as they worked hard to match and complete the puzzles. It was lovely to see their confidence, cooperation, and learning through play.
