Matariki is a special time for reflection and celebration, and to celebrate, our Tamariki painted their own Matariki Stars!!!! ⭐️⭐️

Spooning is one of the initial lessons introduced in the practical life area. This activity involves using a spoon to transfer objects from one container to another. Its primary aim is to develop and refine a child's fine motor skills, particularly hand-eye coordination, wrist rotation, and precision in hand movements. By participating in spooning activities, children master the three-finger grip, preparing them for tasks beyond the practical life learning area.

Our tamariki celebrated Samoan language week by sponge painting hibiscus flowers.

Lest We Forget

Sponge painting offers an enjoyable activity that facilitates exploration of colors and textures while nurturing fine motor skills through sponge handling. Additionally, it enhances hand-eye coordination as participants apply pressure while painting. Engaging in art activities not only fuels imagination but also enriches cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills 😀

Finger painting serves as an enjoyable and effective method for children to engage in sensory play and learning. It aids in refining their fine motor skills essential for writing in the future while introducing them to a spectrum of colours and encouraging exploration and blending. This activity stimulates multiple senses through tactile and visual experiences, contributing to improved memory and visualisation abilities.
