Today is the first day of New Zealand Maths Week. Here is a fun game that can be played at home to support students' quick recall of simple subtraction facts.
Have a go this week!
🎲 Race to Zero
🎯 How to play
Start with the number: 100, 50 or 20.
Take turns to roll the dice and subtracts that number from your current total.
The first player to reach exactly 0 wins!
⭐ Important rule
If you have 3 left and roll a 5, you cannot subtract 5. You must skip your turn until you roll a 3.
🧠 Questions to deepen understanding
“What number do you hope to roll next?”
“How many different ways can you get to zero?”
“If you have 8 left, which dice rolls can you use?”

Congratulations to our Year 5 and 6 speech competition winners. All of our students in the Senior school prepared and presented a rap, spoken word or traditional speech. The quality of speeches was very high and we are so proud of all 12 students who shared their speech at our finals today.
