I've been in the Design/Creative industry for over 35 years as an Architect, Interior Designer & later as a Cabinetry Designer for a Kitchen Company. (I also created and ran an eCommerce store for 13 years…) here in Auckland, New Zealand. With all this experience, I noticed that there have been 3 main issues that arose when designing projects for residential clients. Firstly, when homeowners start
ed to talk to a professional without a strong Brief, their confidence and decision-making skills were usually unclear and many couldn't visualise the overall finished concept without the aid of 3D drawings. Secondly, many clients who were greatly influenced by seasonal trends weren't confident in their ability to create the design they ultimately wanted that surpassed fads. Thirdly, there were a lot of last-minute changes throughout projects causing costly re-draws and budget blowouts. I then commissioned formal research with Kiwis who had just finished a project on their home either DIY or engaged with an interior designer, architect, kitchen designer, landscape designer or other professional. While not completely dissatisfied with the result, a staggering 42% stated: "something just isn't right." So I now specialise in pre-design clarity for this large group of people.
