Kia ora koutou,
We have been advised that some WSCW students have been receiving direct messages on social media from accounts posing as other students, or the school itself.
The messages are asking for financial assistance because they are in hardship. They sound like teenagers and will be friendly and sound like they know you. DO NOT engage with any message asking you for money and block the user immediately. This is a scam.
You can find out more about impersonation scams and how to avoid them here.

If you are concerned please contact Netsafe or the Police.

Our annual restorative planting day down at the Waītītīko awa was a huge success. Approximately 200 native plants carefully planted on a blue bird day by Waiōrea and Springs students.
Huge thanks to all the kaiako that supported this initiative, to Damien Hannah from Urban Ark and Cornwall Park nursery who supported us with a donation of plants. The students were awesome!

Figuring out a career path is a journey that starts well before leaving school. It’s all about self-discovery, exploring interests, and getting the right information at the right time.
The WSCW Pathways and Subject Choices Careers Expo on 6/8/26 from 4.30-7.00pm is a fantastic opportunity to see what’s out there and to ensure you are take the correct subject pathway to focus on your passions and keep your career options open.
The Programme for the evening can be found in the comments below.
We’ve gathered a wide range of training organisations, universities, and tertiary providers to show what life after school can look like.
You can also meet with our teachers to discuss how courses align with your future goals. Subject experts will be on KHCL Level 1.
Tip: We recommend picking at least three specific providers to visit, but keep an open mind—sometimes the best path is the one you didn’t see coming!
Use these conversation starters to make the most of the night.
Learning Styles: Is it theory-based or hands-on?
Delivery: Is training in person, online, or blended?
Requirements: What are the costs, locations, and gear needs?
