Welcome to Week 7!

It is going to be a busy and exciting week across the school. Please keep in mind that Tuesday is a Teacher Only Day (no students on site), and Thursday will run on a Day 2 timetable.

With school exams right around the corner in Week 8, students should be using this week to study and prepare.

We also want to send a huge good luck to all of our sports teams heading out for Tournament Week, all the best to our players and coaches!

Nine of our Year 12 students participated in the Leadership Diversity Day at Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) Ngā Kete Wānanga Marae on 11 August 2026.

This meaningful event brought together emerging young leaders from across Tamaki Makaurau to explore interfaith harmony, share cultural values, and discuss how different faith traditions can collaboratively address global challenges.

Starting with a powerful traditional pōwhiri, our students, along with Ms Al-Chalabi, engaged deeply in workshops focused on mutual respect, breaking down barriers, and fostering social cohesion within our diverse communities.

Saketha Jandhyala, a Year 13 student, also joined the group during the second half of the day and delivered an informative presentation about Hinduism, exploring the belief that all people and living beings are interconnected.

It was inspiring to see students from schools across Auckland proudly representing the diverse religions and faith communities that enrich our beloved Aotearoa.

TEACHER ONLY DAY - TUESDAY 1 SEPTEMBER

This is a reminder that Tuesday next week will be a "Teacher Only Day”.

The Ministry of Education enabled all schools this year to set aside a couple of days to support the growth and development of the school. These are important times for us as they enable our whole staff to gather together and experience professional development and align ourselves with the vision and direction of our school.

Emerging Ethnic Leaders Breakfast 2026

On Friday, four of our incredible students - Jude, Stephen, Shella, and Sophia, alongside Ms Al-Chalabi and Mrs Geraldine Jagesur-Singh, attended the Emerging Ethnic Leaders Breakfast 2026 at the Waipuna Conference Centre.

Hosted by the Ministry of Education’s Community Partnerships Team, Auckland Council, and ARCC, the event celebrated rangatahi from diverse ethnic communities for their outstanding leadership, service, and positive contributions.

We are immensely proud of our students for being recognised as emerging leaders at Ormiston Senior College and beyond. Each student was formally presented with a certificate and an Emerging Ethnic Leader badge! ✨

After receiving a last-minute spot in the ePro8 Semi-Finals, our team—the OSC Innov8ors, geared up with only 3 days of practice to take on the nautical-themed challenge at Northcote College! 🎣

The team nailed the fishing rod project, fully automating it and scoring max points to secure 8th place overall!

Well done to the team Ethan, Rafi, Hafsa, and Saanvi.

Inspiring the next generation of women in tech! ✈️💻

A group of our students recently had a fantastic day at Airways New Zealand for ShadowTech 2026. They got a behind-the-scenes guided tour, met inspiring professionals, and explored exciting career paths in technology.

A massive thank you to Airways New Zealand for hosting such an engaging and inspiring experience!

This week we are proud to celebrate Tongan Language Week under the 2026 theme:
"Ko 'etau hiva, ko e fe'unu mahu'inga ia ki he mo'ui 'a e Tonga" — "Our music is a vital strand of our Tongan culture."

Flex Day (Thursday, 20 Aug): Remote learning for Year 12 & 13 students; Year 11 students on site.
