Celebrating Samoan Language Week 🇼🇸✨
This morning, our school community came together for a special flag-raising ceremony to mark the beginning of Samoan Language Week | Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa.
It was a proud and beautiful moment as the Samoan flag was raised, honouring the rich culture, language and heritage that deeply enriches our college. A huge thank you to the staff and students who helped lead the ceremony and share their traditions with us all.

Year 12 & 13 Food Technology Research Trip 👩🍳👨🍳
On Thursday, May 21st, our Senior Food Technology students visited Sylvia Park in Mount Wellington to conduct primary market research for their upcoming internal assessments.
The excursion challenged students to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry reality:
TEF3: Investigated cafe operations, evaluating product presentation, consumer demographics, and pricing structures to inspire their upcoming assessment trials.
TEF2: Analysed the competitive gourmet burger market, conducting staff interviews to evaluate cooking techniques, sauce formulations, and product development opportunities.
This hands-on experience allowed our students to successfully audit existing products, identify market gaps, and gain critical insights that will form the foundation of their practical write-ups. Well done to all involved for representing the school so professionally!

Interact Conference 2026
On the 16th of May, 2026, Ormiston Senior College’s Interact Club leaders attended the Interact Club Conference 2026, held at Macleans College. This event has happened every year since 2019, where Interact Clubs from all around Auckland come together, with the theme for 2026 being "From Intention to Impact: Youth Empowerment Through Service."
This conference explores how to identify real community needs, turn ideas into action, develop youth leadership, and build confidence through volunteering. Kaylen Soong (Vice President), Aatiesh Srinivasan (Service Director), Sophia Zhao (Service Director), Jennifer Sun (Supporting Leader), Jasleen Brar (Supporting Leader) and Saanvi Sethi (Secretary) represented Ormiston Senior College. We got to meet lots of new students and fellow interactors from different schools, and learn how they run their Interact Clubs. Through this experience, we gained new insights from different communities and new innovative ideas for the future.

Our incredible OSC Z Club members recently had the privilege of attending the Charter Ceremony for the Zonta Club of Ormiston-District 16 at St. Paul's in Barry Curtis Park on the 9th May.
Not only did our year 13 students roll up their sleeves to help with event preparation, but they also had the amazing opportunity to connect with local dignitaries and Zonta leaders. A massive shoutout to OSC student and Z Club member Jordyn Pillay, who took the stage as an invited speaker and delivered an incredibly powerful speech!
The Z Club functions under Zonta International, giving young women a platform to build a better future through community service, civic leadership, and advocacy. We are so proud of how beautifully these students represented our school community.
Members in attendance: Anmol, Vandita, Jessica, Shubhreet, and Manas.

Market Day at Ormiston Town Centre
On Saturday 16 May, our Year 12 students took over Ormiston Town Centre for a very special
market day, and the energy was absolutely electric! Our students showed up with heart,
creativity, and a whole lot of hustle, sharing their handcrafted and innovative products with the
wider community.
Shoppers got to browse an incredible range of goods lovingly made by our tamariki, from lip
balms, grape-shaped soaps, and glass wind chimes to air fresheners, customised phone cases,
slimes, and beautifully crafted terrariums. There were also eco-friendly dust bin cleaners
designed to leave your bins smelling fresh, hand-carved coconut bowls, hair spray, handmade
scarves, and a gorgeous range of recycled denim bags and hats.
Watching our students light up as customers stopped, browsed, and bought their creations was
something truly special. They poured so much of themselves into this, and it showed. We could
not be prouder of each and every one of them. Ka mau te wehi, Year 12!

Today, Ormiston Senior College is out in full force and painted pink!
Our learners and staff have swapped the usual attire for pink to show our collective commitment to kindness, inclusion, and diversity. By wearing pink, we are taking a stand against bullying and sending a clear message: Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying!
Check out some of the amazing highlights from around the school today. Let’s keep this spirit of support going every day of the year!
