Lovely testimony received from a client recently completing our 12 week employment programme this week:

"I have been asked to provide feedback on the employNZ programme. My experience with the programme has been overwhelmingly positive, and I would like to share a bit of my background and about why I feel this way.

Although I am someone who was already well-informed about CVs, interviews, and cover letters, my barriers to work were rooted in different reasons. Due to my ill health I had become somewhat socially isolated, leading to lasting negative consequences that I struggled to shake off. Specifically, issues like confidence, anxiety levels, and the propensity to become overwhelmed and shut down were some of my major challenges. Coming into this programme, I felt withdrawn and somewhat stuck.

Although I had initially had some reluctance starting the programme, I was pleasantly surprised by the soft approach to try to understand my specific needs, to meet me where I was at, and to work with me with those things in mind. It was this gentle and tailored approach that was a huge point of difference for me. This flexibility meant I was able to better engage with the programme as the sessions felt purposeful and help was actually helpful.

Each week this programme had me out of the house and provided me with positive face to face interaction with others, and a space where I felt I could meaningfully contribute. I found this really helped in regaining the momentum I had previously lost.

I would not have been able to achieve all that I have in these past weeks without this programme. I am so much closer to gaining employment now than I have been all year. The role that the employment consultant, Monique, played in helping me achieve this success cannot be understated. Her pragmatic, caring approach allowed me to get so much of what I needed from the programme. Her genuine enthusiasm and excitement was so positively infectious it was difficult to not feel energised and motivated by it. Her continuous reassurance and encouragement lifted me up and helped to restore my confidence. It is through all of her efforts that I now feel self assured and believe that I will achieve lasting employment in no time at all."
