Fridays are lunch box day for our tamariki preparing to transition to school. Being able to make healthy choices and learning how to open all those tricky boxes and packets are great skills to practice. This fun activity enabled the tamariki to choose what they would like to put in their 'lunch box', practice fine motor skills cutting and pasting to create their perfect lunch.

Eating with your eyes - doesn't this morning tea look mouth watering. From our Nourish menu, weetbix, yoghurt and fruit which provides a healthy start to our tamariki ready for a busy day of learning and fun ahead.

Celebrating Tongan Language Week. Ofa ke mou ma'u ha Uike Katoanga'i'o e Lea Faka-Tonga lelei mo fiefia.
Our tamariki enjoyed learning about Tongan culture from our beautiful whanau dressed in traditional costume. Learnt songs in Tongan language and shared delicious otai, a fruit drink from Tonga accompanied by cocoa cupcakes.
Integrating home cultures into our Centre helps every child to feel a deep sense of belonging, whilst working in partnership creates meaningful authentic learning experiences. Thank you for sharing with us today.

Our tamariki have been busy tending their little garden, and today harvested some kale they have grown. Kaiako Lee helped them prepare the vegetable to make some crispy kale 'chips' which they enjoyed tasting with their afternoon tea. Bee-ing Curious about the World in Which they Live, our tamariki are discovering healthy ways to grow their own food. I wonder what they will be growing next?

Our Toddlers have been very busy making sure their babies are well cared for and enjoy a delicious healthy lunch. Our Busy Bees Curriculum supports our tamariki in "Making Sense of the World in Which they Live" through our focus of learning through play.

On those wintry wet days, this is a great indoor activity to build hand eye coordination, taking turns, determination and self confidence. Can you throw the ring over the cone? Our tamariki have great fun whilst learning so many skills.

Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga are values that are deeply embedded in the heart of Busy Bees Westgate. By working alongside our tamariki, whānau, kaiako, and wider community, we ensure we provide the highest quality care and education for every tamaiti in our centre.

Recently, we invited our whānau, tamariki, and kaiako to take part in a consultation to help create new names for our rooms—names that reflect our philosophy and celebrate the connection to our Busy Bees identity.

Today, we are proud to reveal our new room names! We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to two of our wonderful mums, whose ideas, guidance, and support played a significant role in selecting not only the names themselves but also the special meanings behind them.

The next time you're visiting the centre, we invite you to have a look and discover the beautiful stories behind each of our new room names. We hope you love them as much as we do!
