Everyday, our tamariki look forward to our Big Mat Times upstairs where we have lots of fun and movement . These mat times are important as they boost physical coordination, supports cognitive development, helps children regulate their emotions and improves language and listening skills.
We have wonderful resources to use during these mat times and last week we enjoyed using our props (frogs and monkeys) along with songs. Doing this makes it fun and interactive β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ

Today we had an amazing out and about excursion. We had no set agenda except to have fun but there is always so much learning during these walks. We climbed a lot of steps, and the children had fun counting as they went. We played eye spy to see how many chimneys we can spot, this is related to our current focus βthe 3 little pigsβ. We also explored a playground - building bravery, confidence and perseverance along the way. We had fun rolling down the grassey hill which activates the vestibular system, which helps the brain develop pathways for balance. It was a walk full of fun, adventure and meaningful learning experiences πβ€οΈπβ€οΈ

Our Bear Cubs have been exploring emotions and feelings this week. Exploring feelings at this age helps our little Bear Cubs begin to understand and express their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Through play, stories, music and creative activities, children are learning to recognise different feelings in themselves and others while also developing empathy, communication skills and emotional confidence. It has been wonderful to see the children engaging in these experiences, sharing their ideas and using facial expressions and words to talk about how they feel πβ€οΈπβ€οΈ

What a fun week we had exploring the letter Nn. The children loved participating in a range of hands on activities including creating their own ninjas, necklaces, making birds nests, dunking balls into nets and cutting up their own special noodles.
We also created beautiful masterpieces using shapes and nails and practiced writing the letter n using whiteboards, chalkboards and writing books. We also used tweezers for some experiences which helps with strengthening finger muscles. Along the way we explored the concepts of nice and nocturnal.
The children respond so positively to our holistic approach to learning, where fun, creativity and active exploration help bring each letter to life β€οΈπ
