🌱 Hands-On Learning at Albany Preschool 🐸

At Albany Preschool we believe children learn best through real, hands-on experiences.

Our centre is home to two much-loved guinea pigs, Fish and Biscuit, who the children help care for every day. These special moments teach responsibility, empathy, and a love for animals.

Right now, our children are also exploring the exciting topic of new life and lifecycles. We even have a frog visiting our centre, giving tamariki the chance to observe and learn up close. The children have been amazing helpers—supporting his care and even helping to catch food for him!

These real-life experiences help children develop curiosity, respect for nature, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

We are looking for a fully qualified teacher to join our team here in Albany.

If you are interested in working in a community, not for profit preschool and in a centre that has a great outdoor environment, is well resourced, and has a well established team, this may be the job for you.

We offer extended pay parity, great non contact time and paid PD opportunities throughout the year.

We close over Christmas school holidays and our team enjoys a nice long break before we come back rested and enthusiastic for the start of the new school year.

We are looking for a teacher to work five days per week from 8.30am to 4.00pm. Paid staff meetings are every 2nd Tuesday for two hours 4.00pm to 6.00pm.

Annual General Meeting

This event will be catered so please RSVP for numbers
Nomination forms for Committee members and Executive committee Members can be collected from the office.
Please volunteer to be part of our committee – more details available from Kate, Toni or any of the Executive – Judy, Elise or Kristie.
We require 8 committee members including the Executive in order to continue.
Committee responsibilities include – attending the monthly zoom committee meeting on last Wednesday evening of the month. (approx. 1 hour). Support the Executive with fundraising, and Committee duties. Representing the rest of the society of parents in decision making. Being part of the committee brings with it the advantage of 20 % discount on fees.
Current Executive Officers are
Chairperson – vacant – currently being filled by Elise Stebbings
Secretary - vacant – currently being filled by Kristie Coote
Treasurer – Judy Chou
The Executive Committee has more responsibility for the financial and legal running of the preschool. They are responsible to the committee and wider society to handle the preschool financial affairs with due diligence.

This year we are ratifying our new constitution – please find a copy attached. It allows us to re-register as a charity and enjoy charitable tax status.
