🌼💛 Daffodil Day at Bright Beginnings Early Learning Centre 💛🌼

Today our tamariki came together to support Daffodil Day and help raise awareness for people and families affected by cancer.

It was a beautiful opportunity to talk with our children about kindness, caring for others, and supporting our community. Through simple conversations and meaningful experiences, our tamariki are learning that even little acts of kindness can make a big difference. 💛

We loved seeing our centre filled with a little extra sunshine and plenty of beautiful daffodil-inspired moments! 🌼✨

Thank you to our wonderful Bright Beginnings whānau for getting behind this important cause and helping us spread a little more kindness in our community.

Last weekend we got some time out together as a team. Our wonderful bosses took us to the Howick Historical Village. During our day we were shown what was expected as children and as teachers 100 years ago.
We also had a lovely brunch and coffee together.
It was so great spending time outside of work to build relationships and connect with each other.

🚑📚 A Wonderful Time of Learning with Our Community Helpers! 🎶

We were lucky to welcome Nadia from Hato Hone St John Ambulance to Bright Beginnings Early Learning Centre Howick! The tamariki enjoyed learning about the important role paramedics and ambulances play in helping people in our community.

Nadia showed us the stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, oxygen mask and how to use bandages to care for injuries, and the children had so much fun trying on a real high-visibility vest and helmet—just like paramedics wear! It was a fantastic hands-on experience that helped build their confidence and understanding of how emergency services keep us safe.

We also had a lovely visit from Andy, our librarian from Highland Park Library, who shared an engaging story time followed by a fun-filled music session. The children loved singing, moving, and joining in with the stories, fostering a love of books and learning.

A big thank you to Nadia and Andy for sharing your time, knowledge, and enthusiasm with us. We truly appreciate the wonderful partnerships we have with our local community, creating meaningful learning experiences for our tamariki. 💙📖🎵

All the tamarki participated in Matariki Celebration's through different learning experiences at Bright Beginnings Early Learning Centre Howick. They have been interacting with art activities and creating stars, making starry night's with playdough, paper plates and glitters, making butter bread and baking star cookies, learning about the history of the Matariki star sisters.

As part of our Matariki celebrations, our tamariki have been creating their own beautiful korowai. Each child and teacher carefully dyed and individually glued their feathers, taking great pride in every step of the process. The finest korowai represents care, belonging and the unique contribution each child makes to our learning community.

These meaningful experiences encourage creativity, patience and perseverance while introducing children to the cultural significance of the Māori tradition. Matariki is a special time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look forward to the future. Through hands-on experiences like these, we continue to learn about and honor Aotearoa New Zealand’s rich cultural heritage.

We invited the Little Scientists to the Bright Beginnings Early Learning Centre Howick and made science fun for all the tamariki. Children were provided exceptional science-based activities with theme of Matariki, including three cool activities about Waitī, Waitā and Waipuna-ā-rangi.

We made a wetland and see how vegetation and plant matter slows down erosion, protecting our rivers; We then made an ocean ecosystem and the children were introduced contamination; We also looked at how clouds are formed with water condensed in the air on particles and when they become too saturated it begins to rain.

We love creating myriad opportunities for children to ask questions, hypothesise and carry out experiments in a relaxed environment!

Today we are celebrating Mother's Day at Bright Beginnings Early Learning Centre Howick. One of the highlights of the day was the delicious treats prepared by our dedicated teachers. We pampered our moms before they left for work after dropping their little ones.
Our children created handmade gifts and art works and shared their love for their mommy.
At Bright Beginnings, we are grateful for all the moms and special people who entrust us with their precious little ones, and we look forward to many more special moments together in the future. Happy Mother's Day!
