Today we were blessed to welcome the Marcellin College Jazz Band who performed for us. The standard of performance was impressive and our children were in awe of their talents. They performed a range of songs, many of which were familiar and our children enjoyed joining in. Thank you Marcellin College!

Today GSS was graced my NZ Olympic royalty!

5 time Olympian, Gold and Silver medalist Emma Twigg took time out of her busy schedule to inspire the next generation.

Every child was allowed to hold one of her medals and after sharing Emma’s story of resilience commitment and determination she answered some great questions from our Tamariki.

It was truely powerful how she connected the Olympic Values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship to both her story and the lives of our children.

On behalf of Good Shepherd School we sincerely thank Emma Twigg and the Olympic Ambassador programme.

Another amazing Book Parade! Indoor this year to keep warm. Highlights included visits from a real bunny and a to scale aeroplane! Outstanding efforts all around from our wonderful community.

***Book Swap Success***

Well done to our Student Council for running a highly success Book Swap.

We reused great books and walked away with an exciting new read!

****Book Swap Drop Off Tomorrow Tuesday 16 June and Wednesday 17 June 8.30am in our Parish Hall****

Please encourage your children to bring in any books that are in good condition that they are happy to part with. They will get an opportunity later in the week to choose one new book to take home and enjoy!

Our Student Council are excited to organise this event. A cost effective way to share the joy of reading and be in the good habit reusing and recycling.

We love fostering our relationship with Early Learning Centres and this week we had a visit with soon to be 5 year olds from AppleSeed Educare. Our Room 2 children were wonderful hosts, and it was impressive to see how well they all worked together.

Today our student Council were busy planning and organising a GSS Book Swap - children across all year levels showing great teamwork!

Our children were also treated with visits to the Life Education Caravan and our dear friend Harold who always makes learning such fun for us!

Finally, please keep in your prayers our candidates as they prepare for the sacrament of confirmation tonight.

GSS Cultural Week was a huge success! Sincere thanks to the many families who came to classes and gave presentations to help our children learn about the wonderful and unique cultures that make our school community so special. Well done also to the many brave children who performed special dances, routines and presentations at our assembly last Friday.

It is St Joseph’s Day and the Sun is shining ☀️

Father Martin delivered a beautiful homily where he put an emphasise on the value of team work.

We then had the opportunity to work as a team as we split into house groups for some fun tabloid sports.

The day was rounded off with the generous donation of a Juicy for every child courtesy of our wonderful PTA.

Another great day at GSS!
