TERM 3 PRODUCTION

Here are some of our script writers for our Term 3 Production! Asher, Marbeau, Ava, Odin and Noah are pictured here working on the plot for our play. We are thrilled to have our very own students writing a play for the whole school! Jake and Annie are also part of the team, though they were busy completing other projects. We can’t wait to see what our talented tamariki come up with!

FINAL SPIRIT WEEK INSTALMENT

Anything But a Cup Day!

Any drink bottle or water container brought from home was anything but a cup. The more creative, unexpected, or ridiculous, the better.

Whether it was a watering can, teapot, gravy boat or garden sprayer we were encouraged to think outside the cup.

There were unique creations and questionable hydration choices on display. Creativity points were available, but dignity points were optional!

And we just love the Lagmhorians’ nonchalant pose! ❤️ 🖤💛

STAFF SPIRIT WEEK CONTINUED

Perhaps the cheekiest email we received:

Dress From the Decade You Were Born In!

This is a wonderful opportunity for staff to celebrate the era in which they entered the world.

Some of you may be dusting off your flares from the 70s, teasing your hair to impressive heights for the 80s, or embracing the questionable fashion choices of the 90s.

Others may need to consult museum archives, history books, or perhaps a local archaeologist before selecting an outfit.

As one of the younger staff members, I look forward to learning about these fascinating periods of history from those who experienced them firsthand.

Please enjoy this chance to take a nostalgic trip down memory lane and share your ancient wisdom with the rest of us.

I can’t wait to see the school transformed into a living timeline of fashion, from “retro” to “I remember when that was actually in style!”

Continuing with our Staff Spirit Week (daily themes, dress-up and lighthearted activities) we had fun with Twin, Triplet (or More) Day!

All levels of effort were welcome and our tamariki loved trying to guess what we were up to for this activity. We had twice the staff, three times the confusion, and at least one group that took it far too seriously! 😆

Two of our awesome kaiako have organised some fun for our staff this week. On Monday it was Double Denim Day and today was, As Many Patterns as Possible Day!

Our instructions were, “If you look in the mirror and think, ‘This is a terrible idea!’, then you’re probably on the right track.”

Thanks to Miss Shapland and Mrs Harper for the laughs - you are our taonga.

I wonder what’s in store for us for the rest of the week?!

To our ABS Filipino whānau…

To our Filipino community in Mid Canterbury,

Our hearts are with you. We know that many of you have family, friends and loved ones in the Philippines, and we can only imagine the worry and concern you may be feeling right now.

Please know that you are not alone. As part of our Mid Canterbury whānau, we are thinking of you, holding you in our thoughts and sending our love and support to you and your families both here and abroad.

In times like these, community matters. We stand beside you and hope you find strength in the love, resilience and care that surrounds you.

Arohanui to you all. Stay strong, take care of one another, and know that we are here for you. ❤️

TENNIQUOITS AT LAGMHOR

Harakeke’s teacher, Mrs Atkinson, introduced tenniquoits to our Lagmhor whānau.

Tenniquoits (also called ring tennis or tennikoit) is a fast-paced, racquetless sport where players catch and throw a circular rubber ring over a net. Played on a court similar to badminton, the goal is to land the ring in the opponent's half or force an error.

There was much excitement today, especially when Mr Taylor joined to bolster up the boys side in a boys vs girls game!

🧁 🧁 🧁 Well done to our tamariki who were nominated by their teachers to receive a ‘kindness cupcake’. This week, we were focusing on being a good ROLE MODEL.

Mrs Prendergast, our hardworking tumuaki, was the recipient of the teacher cupcake. Ka pai to you all!

Pōhutukawa chose this week’s theme - Cookie Monster, ‘Om nom nom nom!’
