Ashburton Toastmasters played host to approximately 40 toastmastersโ members from six clubs in the wider Canterbury area recently when the area contest was held in Ashburton.
Public speaking enthusiasts from Hornby, Oaklands, Ashburton, Lincoln Research, and Alpine toasters clubs assembled at the RSAโs Doris Linton lounge to compete against each other in four different category events of speech-making. They included Table topics (impromptu speeches), humorous speeches, evaluation speeches, and international speeches.
Area Director, Harry Fox, described the calibre of speeches presented as very high. First place winners in each category will go forward to contests at divisional level.
Ashburtonโs Robin McClimont secured third place in the Evaluation contest. Congratulations Robin!
The next regular Ashburton Toastmasters meeting will be held in the Doris Linton Lounge on Wednesday 25 February commencing at 7:30 PM sharp. Now is the ideal time to check out how anyone can improve their public speaking skills in a safe learning environment. Inquiries to Robert King, ph 027 478 0103.
