The other day kaiako Kathryn was reading a pukapuka (book) that talked about a radio but our tamariki didn't know what it was. So today, Kathryn brought her AM/FM radio to show the tamariki. They took turns changing the station and listening to the news and music.

We also listened to our CD player and music through our phone.

How exciting for our tamariki to learn about the different ways we listen to sound.

Our tamariki are enjoying celebrating Daffodil Day today. We have had a busy morning creating our own daffodils, making collage daffodils, having a special face or hand paint and wearing yellow and orange. 💛🧡💛🧡

Today some of our tuakana children were busy learning number recognition using Uno cards. We used numbers 1-8 and the 4 colours. We took turns flipping over an Uno card and making dots on the relevant line. For example flipping over 8 blue would mean making 8 marks on the blue line.

We had lots of fun exploring and learning more about what numbers look like visually.

Kia ora whānau our tamariki are diving into the world of musical instruments, a world full of colour, shape, movement and sound. We are exploring what instruments look like?🪇🥁🪈🎤 What they sound like? Our tamariki love to dance and listen to music, we will be exploring different genre of music, also music from different countries.

If you or any friends play a musical instrument or sing, we would love for you to come in and share this with our tamariki.

Matariki celebration...we have decided to postpone this evenings event, due again to the weather.
A big part of the evening is the star hunt for the tamariki, which we would not be able to do safely.
We apologize for any inconveniences this may have created.
We intend to do the evening next week, so will let you know of the day ASAP.
