We’re incredibly grateful to have played a part in creating this special space at Hampden Street School
Seeing the children using the OutClass was genuinely inspiring. It was everything we dreamed of when we first came up with the concept, a space where students can feel safe, supported and empowered, and where their individual learning needs are understood.
For us, this is about so much more than creating a physical space. It’s about positively impacting a child’s learning journey and helping every student feel like they truly belong at school.
Neurodiversity isn’t going away, nor should it. We need to expand our thinking about what a school environment can look like and continue adapting our spaces to support students with all learning differences.
Seeing the impact at Hampden Street School makes us even more excited about what’s possible. We’re looking forward to helping many more schools and students experience the same benefits. 💚
If only this article could somehow land on the desks of key staff in Ministry of Education NZ as we are sure that Erica Stanford MP would love to see what schools are doing all on their own merit, with their own fundraising, just to support students that need that extra love.
Please like and share, its how we get out there 😎
A pretty exciting moment for Hampden Street School!
Our new outdoor sensory hub has made the Nelson Mail, and even better, it’s already making a real difference for our tamariki.
A place to reset, recharge, create, play or simply find a bit of calm when the school day feels a little too busy. And judging by the giant chess board, it’s also become a pretty great place to hang out! ♟️
What started as an idea to better support some of our students has become a space that so many are enjoying.
We’re incredibly proud to see it in action, and even prouder to hear our students describe it as a place where they feel “calm,” “safe” and “amazing.”
A big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen, and to the Nelson Mail for shining a light on something pretty special happening right here at Hampden Street.
