Join us at Equifest 🤩 Once again we're gearing up for the biggest and best equestrian festival in New Zealand on October 16th-18th. I will be in the demo pen each day so come and say hi!

Who’s up for a mid-life change of career? Awhi is! We stopped doing agility a year or two ago, because it felt like he wasn’t enjoying it like he should be. This weekend we attended our first Rally-O trial and he did amazing! My favourite part was towards the end of his fourth run of the weekend when I looked down and he was wagging his tail and smiling at me. 🥰

Big thanks to Rotorua Dog Training Club -RDTC for the warm, supportive atmosphere and a very well-run show (friendly helpful judges and lovely prizes too!). Thanks also to Celine Photography NZ for the pics!

What does “horsemanship” look like for you? There was a time for me when it was allll about riding. Eventing and showjumping and trail riding, I did a bit of almost everything. Then it became about raising well-rounded babies and wild horses, investing time in them BEFORE they were ready for a ridden career. These days it’s a bit of everything - and I definitely like it this way best. It’s normal for your identity and interests to change as you grow. Horse training looks different to everyone and as far as I’m concerned the only thing that should matter to the average horse person is the welfare of the horse, and the enjoyment of the human. Horse ownership is an expensive and sometimes rather stressful business to be involved in - if you’re not enjoying yourself, why are you doing it?

It was all for the dogs in Katikati last weekend! Western Bay of Plenty Council put on a party for the opening of the new dog exercise area. My team and I were there running tricks workshops and answering questions all day. Lots of people and their pups came along throughout the day to learn some tricks, have a go on the agility and the “sniff n seek” course, win amazing spot prizes and just have a great time in the sunshine. 25-26 July: WHANGAREI: Positive reinforcement obstacle clinic
This is a TWO day clinic at the lovely undercover RDA arena at Barge Park. You can do one day, or both.

12 July: TAURANGA: Positive reinforcement training with your horse
This one is at my home base in Aongatete, come with your horse or without, and you're also welcome to borrow one of my horses (this would be a great opportunity for dog trainers or horse enthusiasts who are currently horse-less! Make the most of it).
