Kia ora APS whānau and community. In our newsletter this week there is an article about the Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery long term plan. Please have a read and give some feedback if you can. Our museum and art gallery is a very special taonga (treasure) for our community, especially our schools and early childhood centres ☺️

How fortunate our we with our beautiful learning spaces? Yesterday Tuatara and Mokomoko had the pleasure of meeting Katy from Mercury Energy online in our media space to learn about all things ‘wind energy’.
It was fascinating to see all of the reinforced steel and concrete below ground level that holds wind turbines in place. Another interesting fact to learn was that from the tip of the top blade to ground level is over 160m! They certainly need some HUGE trucks and cranes to transport and erect wind turbines in NZ!

Back in Alexandra, our Year 4 campers wrapped up an amazing week with a visit to Central Stories Museum & Art Gallery to explore the Clever Crustaceans exhibition, touring from Te Papa. What a fantastic way to finish a week full of adventure, learning, and unforgettable memories together!

What an incredible day of adventures for our Year 4 camp crew! Today we explored the beach and estuary, tackled the obstacle course, enjoyed a surprise stop at S**g Point to see the seals, and finished the day with a fascinating visit to Macraes Gold Mine.
A huge thank you to all of our amazing parents, whānau, and supporters who helped make this camp possible, we couldn’t do it without you.

Our tamariki have shown teamwork, curiosity, courage, and kindness. What special memories we are making together!

What an incredible start to our Year 4 noho at Puketeraki Marae in Karitāne!
Today we enjoyed a successful hīkoi around the Huriawa Peninsula and a waka ama adventure, where we discovered a whale bone! The tamariki have also had lots of fun onsite, from poi making to spotlight adventures outside tonight.
These inland tamariki are absolutely loving being on the coast!

Kia ora APS families,
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Mark, Carolin and family by providing a meal while Carolin is bravely fighting cancer. Providing meals is taking some of the pressure off at this difficult time and we would love to continue to support the Wills family❤️
We are resharing the meal train link that the PTA has created for anyone who might be able to continue to help. Whether it’s providing a family dinner, some baking for lunchboxes, or a simple ready-to-heat meal, every contribution will help ease the pressure and allow them to focus on what matters most — being together and supporting Carolin through her treatment.
If this is something you are able to support with then please select a date via the meal train link. When choosing meals, kindly refer to the family’s food preferences and the drop-off details provided.
A big thank you to our wonderful APS community for wrapping this beautiful family in love and practical support during this time. We know Mark, Carolin and the kids are incredibly grateful for your ongoing support.🤍
