Today Eli O'Neill was awarded his Level 2 BCITO certificate for completing his Gateway programme in building. Eli has worked really hard and excelled in his study. We are very proud. A big thank you to Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) and Jim Harrington, Eli's BCITO Training Advisor. We would also like to thank Greg Chapman Quality Builders for having Eli on work placement this year.

We are delighted to celebrate the success of our students in the recent Checketts McKay Creative Writing Competition. The competition was open to Year 9 - 13 students from across the district, with entries exploring a connection to Central Otago/Queenstown Lakes.

🚌 School Bus Runs affected by Road Closures Monday 14th September - Friday 18th September. Clyde Springvale change for Road Closure at Dunstan & Coates Rd. 🚌

Part of Dunstan Road will be closed from 07:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday next week.

The only run that is affected is Clyde/Springvale. AM you can still turn into Dunstan Road from Springvale Road and continue down to Airport Road which is where the road is closed from. These 4 stops will be affected.

8:36 STOP - 371 Dunstan Rd

8:36 STOP - 339 Dunstan Rd

8:37 STOP - Waldron Rd

8:37 STOP - William Hill Est (infrequent)

Can parents of all students who live along the closed section please drop off their children at the corner of Dunstan and Coates Rd before 08:35. When the Clyde Springvale bus turns right at the roadblock into Coates Road, it will pull up where the rail trail crosses marked by red “❌” on map.

The bus will continue along Coates Rd, turn left into Airport Road, then left onto the Clyde Alexandra Highway and travel into town, servicing St Gerards, DHS and The Terrace as normal.

In the afternoon instead of going down Dunstan Road, it will head out the highway onto Airport Rd and drop students off on Coates Rd – green “X” at about 3.20PM. Then continue the run as normal. Parents are asked to please be there waiting.

Winter Tournament Week Roundup

Last week was an incredibly busy and action-packed time for Dunstan sports, with seven of our teams competing in tournaments across the South Island. While it was a building year for many of our codes, every squad represented the school with outstanding effort, grit, and spirit.

Here is a summary of how our teams fared across the week:

Netball: The squad traveled to Nelson for the South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) competition. Competing in the top A Grade, the girls fought hard in several tight matches, finishing 17th overall and taking home the A Grade Plate.

Ice Hockey: Competing in the A Grade, the Dunstan Combined team had a stellar tournament. After tough matches against Wakatipu and JMC, they secured strong wins over King's High School and OBHS. Following a semifinal battle against Waka Gold, they bounced back to beat JMC and claim 3rd place.

Girls Hockey: Facing tough competition in Timaru, the team finished 3rd in pool play before mounting a strong run in post-pool play to finish 9th overall.

Boys Hockey: Battling harsh weather conditions in Invercargill, the team showed true resilience. After an early pool-play loss to Waitaki Boys' High School, the boys got their revenge in the 7th/8th playoff, clinching 7th place in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Boys Football: The First XI headed to Dunedin for the annual Linwood Tournament. Despite a tough run on the scoreboard, morale stayed sky-high thanks to exemplary leadership from our Year 12 and 13 seniors. Their outstanding sportsmanship was rewarded with the tournament Fair Play Award.

U15 Rugby: Competing at the Rural Livestock U15 tournament in Westport, the team capped off their week on a high note by defeating St Peter's College to secure 9th place.

Boys Basketball: Taking a small squad to Dunedin, the boys battled through a series of close encounters, finishing 11th overall after a hard-fought playoff victory over Menzies College.

A massive thank you to all of our coaches, managers, and parent volunteers who took time off work and gave up their week to support our athletes and make these trips possible!

Some of our talented Annie cast members paid a special visit to the wonderful residents at Ranui and Castlewood rest homes, filling the halls with music, smiles, and some of the show’s favorite hits!

There is nothing quite like sharing the joy of theatre beyond the school gates and performing for such a warm, appreciative audience. Connecting with our amazing local community made this an unforgettable day for everyone involved.

A massive THANK YOU to Ranui and Castlewood for welcoming us so warmly and giving us this opportunity!
