Big Science Competition registrations are now open 🔬

Open to New Zealand students in Years 8–11
(Equivalent to Australian Years 7–10)

Big Science Competition is an international online science competition run by Australian Science Innovations. The 50-minute competition is designed to assess not only science knowledge, but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to apply science in real-world contexts.

Topics include:
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
Earth & Environmental Science

This competition is ideal for students who:
Are interested in science
Want to strengthen their STEM skills
Would like to experience an international competition
Want a better understanding of their science level through external assessment

Looking for an affordable, flexible, and educational school holiday programme? Check out our offerings below. We are offering two parallel holiday programmes this season, designed to meet different family needs.
HOLIDAY CAMP: Our first option is a full-day holiday programme that combines learning, creativity, and care in a more holiday camp style. In the morning, students build core skills through Maths, English, Science, Social Science, Public Speaking, and focus training. In the afternoon, they join our AI & Coding Special Camp, including AI creative projects and Roblox / Scratch coding. This programme is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, with a balance of structured learning and engaging activities, making it a great option for families looking for a more care-based holiday programme. The fee is $99 per day, $59 for a half day, or $359 for a full week.

SKILL-BUILDING PROGRAMME: Our second option is a more academically focused holiday programme for students who want targeted support and subject-based improvement during the break. This programme focuses on Maths, Science, and English, with an emphasis on strengthening foundations, targeted practice, and academic skill development. Students may enrol in any individual class freely, just like during the school term. Classes are taught in small groups, and each lesson is $45. For students who enrol in all three morning academic subjects in one day, the afternoon AI & Coding camp will be included free of charge.

Results for ICAS 2025 have started to become available. At the time of writing, Digital Technologies, English, Science, Spelling Bee and Maths results are now out, with Writing due soon. All students receive an in-depth report of their performance across major subject criteria, as well as a certificate of participation.
