A devastating flash flood along the Bhotekoshi River on 26 August has severely affected communities across Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, causing loss of lives and extensive damage to homes and essential infrastructure. Children and families face heightened risks to their safety, protection and wellbeing.
SOS Childrenโs Villages Nepal is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the National Child Rights Council (NCRC), Social Welfare Council, Protection Cluster, Nepal Red Cross Society, local authorities and other humanitarian partners to understand the emerging needs.
Our Rapid Assessment Team is being mobilised to assess the impact on children and families, focusing on child protection, psychosocial wellbeing and access to essential services, including the need for short-term and appropriate alternative care for children who are separated from their families or at risk of losing parental care.
The assessment findings will guide SOS Childrenโs Villages Nepal in identifying the most appropriate support for affected children and families, in close coordination with relevant authorities and humanitarian partners.
