-Highlighting further on undergraduate projects-

DMAE undergraduate students have established a strong, rapidly growing footprint at international conferences, mainly ones held in the USA.

For example, the following are papers from the 2025 projects presented at the largest aerospace forum in the world, the AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition (SciTech) 2026 held in Florida:

1. Design, Development, and Testing of an Indigenous Sounding Rocket in Nepal [AIAA 2026-1748]

2. Numerical Investigation of Coupled Aerothermoelastic Effects on Hypersonic Intake Performance [AIAA 2026-0391]

3. Numerical Investigation on the Aerothermoelastic Response of Compliant Panels Under Hypersonic Shock Impingement [AIAA 2026-0610]

4. Characterization of a Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) Setup Using Vortex Shedding from Circular Cylinder at Low Reynolds Number [AIAA 2026-1934]

Congratulations, Team SRB.

Our team of Rocketry at Pulchowk had a brief but insightful discussion with Hon. Sasmit Pokharel, Minister of Education and Sports, about liquid rockets and the future of rocketry in Nepal!

Conversations like these inspire us to keep pushing the boundaries of what student engineers in Nepal can achieve and we hope this is just the beginning of many more discussions and collaborations to come.

DMAE is grateful to all faculty members, stafffs and students who've gone beyond their call of duty to bring us to this moment.

We sincerely thank the Chief of IOE Pulchowk Campus Prof. Dr. Sanjaya Uprety, and the TU Vice Chancellor and IOE Dean Prof. Dr. Sushil Bahadur Bajracharya for their kind support in making the event possible.

Many thanks also to the TU's Center for International Relations for coordinating the signing of the MOU.

Huge Leap in Aerospace Education: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Tribhuvan University and Airbus, opening doors for Nepali students to gain technical knowledge, industry exposure, and hands-on experience in aeronautics and aerospace. This partnership marks an important step toward preparing Nepal’s talented youth for future opportunities in the global aviation and aerospace sector. France has expressed support for this initiative, highlighting the growing long-term institutional collaboration between Nepal and France. Congratulations to TU and Airbus on this partnership! 😍🙏

Research collaboration with IIT Kanpur: Our MSc Mechanical Engineering student Biwash Karki (class of 2026) recently conducted a collaborative research campaign at IIT Kanpur's subsonic wind tunnel facility.

He participated in performing some of the final experiments of serrated helicopter rotor blades as part of IOE Pulchowk - IIT Kanpur collaborative project funded by the US Air Force.

As part of IOE Pulchowk's commitment on the project, Biwash performed wall-modelled large-eddy simulations to inform the experiments and to explore new design spaces.

Many congratulations to Biwash on his experimental campaign, and upcoming graduation.

The placement statistics for DMAE are shaping up to be truly historic this year — and the momentum is only growing stronger.

The number of dedicated positions offered has already reached nearly 70% of the total number of 4th-year Mech&Aero undergraduate students.

Fingers crossed, and best wishes to all the graduating students currently progressing through the interview rounds.

From a flickering candle to hypersonic flow, this is Schlieren Imaging at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Our platform now spans the full breadth of compressible and incompressible flow physics, combustion, convection, and vortex dynamics.

Highlighted in this video:
✅ Kelvin–Helmholtz & thermal shear instabilities
✅ Vortex ring dynamics in liquid
✅ Muzzle blast & pistol discharge flow fields
✅ Mach diamonds & supersonic jet structures
✅ Thrust vectoring & curved wedge shock interactions
✅ Hypersonic blunt body flow
✅ Forced, natural & mixed convection
✅ Butane jet, matchstick & candle flame dynamics
✅ Rainbow Schlieren Deflectometry (RSD)

With our RSD capability now operational, we have crossed from qualitative visualization into quantitative science, enabling density and temperature field reconstruction from optical data alone.
"The invisible, made visible. The visible, made measurable."
