Sarthak Shiksha

-Background-
Because of the global efforts for basic education, such as Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Education for All (EFA), the educational environment surrounding children has been improved in the world. For example, the Net Enrollment Rate in Nepal has increased to 97.43 in 2012 from 69.73 in 1988. The national assessment conducted by several studies of grade 3, 4 and 5, hardly show

significant improvement in the scores of subjects like Nepali, Mathematics and Social studies.


「背景」
　「ミレニアム開発目標」や「万人のための教育」といったグローバルな基礎教育への取り組みにより、基礎教育をめぐる環境は改善されつつある。例えば、ネパールにおいて、1988年の純就学率は、69.73%であったが、2012年には97.43%にまで上昇した。
　しかし、子供の学習の質は向上していない。ある研究によれば、ネパールの3，4，5年生のネパール語、算数、社会科のテストの結果において、過去に比べて大きな進歩は見られない。

In order to tackle the issue mentioned above, Sarthak Shiksha will make an effort to achieve "Quality learning For All". Sarthak Shiksha means "Meaningful Education" in Nepalese.

「ミッション」
　以上のような問題を解決するため、Sarthak Shikshaは、「質の高い教育を全ての人々に」を達成するために活動する。Sarthak Shikshaという団体名は、ネパール語で「有意義な教育」を意味している。

-Projects-
1. Sarthak Reading Classes (SRC)
While access to education has improved significantly in Nepal, the quality of learning remains low. For example, many children lack basic literacy skills, even after studying several years at primary school. Sarthak Reading Class (SRC) is an after school program for students under grade 5, that aims at improving the reading and writing skills. SRC is also expected to create reading culture among students. Currently, seven volunteers (Sarthak Sathi), trained by Sarthak Shiksha, are contributing to teach the classes every week at two elementary schools. SRC uses interactive teaching methods to encourage active participation of children.

2. Mothers Empowerment Project
Mothers play particularly important role in the education of children. Their own education level and their income can make a large difference in the household. Our self-employment Education Program in collaboration with Child Development Society (CDS) provides literacy and business management classes for disadvantaged mothers, two hours every day, We believe that this program will help the mothers to run their own business, which can provide stable and sustainable income sources to the family, and further contribute to support in children's education.

3. Human Resource Development
Sarthak Shiksha envisions capable human resource in education, as base for prosperous country. Sarthak Sathi, volunteer programs are to develop human resource as well as implement Sarthak Shiksha activities. Several training packages are there in Sarthak Shiksha to empower our Sathis. Non-Nepali supporters can also be Sarthak Sathi to support Sarthak Shiksha and learn about Nepal.

１． サルタック・リーディング・クラス（SRC）
ネパールでは、子どもの就学率は向上している一方、教育の質が低いことが問題になっています。例えば、小学校中・高学年になっても、基本的な読み書きができない子どもたちがたくさんいます。「サルタック・リーディング・クラス（SRC）」は、読み書き力の向上と読書習慣をつけることを目的とした、5年生以下の生徒に対する放課後の特別授業です。現在、サルタックで訓練を受けた7名のボランティア（サルタック・サティ）が、毎週2校で授業を実施中です。SRCでは、生徒の活発な参加を促す、対話式の授業を行っています。

２． 母親の自立支援プログラム
母親は子どもの教育において非常に重要な役割を担っています。母親の教育レベルと収入は、家計に大きな違いを生み出します。サルタックの「母親の自立支援プログラム」では、チャイルド・ディベロップメント・ソサイエティ（CDS）と共同で、毎日2時間、貧困の母親を対象に、読み書きとビジネスマネジメントに関する授業を行っています。私たちは、このプログラムを通じて女性のビジネス支援を行うことで、子どもの教育費にも充てられるような持続的な収入源を作り出すことができると信じています。

３． 人材育成開発
私たちサルタック・シクシャは、教育分野において有能な人材を育成することが、国の繁栄の基盤を作ると確信しています。サルタック・サティというボランティアプログラムを通じて私たちは団体の活動を手伝ってくれる仲間を増やし、また彼ら自身の人材育成を行っています。特に人材育成のために、ボランティア向けの研修プログラムを充実させています。またネパール人でなくても、サルタックの活動を応援し、ネパールについて学ぶサルタック・サティとなることができます。
