Nawa Pratibha Educational Development Academy (NEDA) is a not for profit making, independent, organization based on equa
l participatory approach through community, established in 1987 AD with a motto 'Let Educate Community'. The establishment of the NEDA was the outcome of a courageous and dedicated living soul which appeared in Panchkhal out of the blue to enlighten the Panchkahalese from ignorance, false beliefs superstition, social injustice and discrimination. Regarding such problems in community some intellectuals, social workers and other conscious local people led to a conclusion to establish a community school. After that the community realized the necessity of the school that focuses on quality education. Then, the community raised fund observing the ritual festival Dipawali by playing 'Deausi' (songs often sing in Dipawali festival of Hindus, the founders to donate for the establishment are about 273 people). With the collected fund people constructed a building made of mud and stone. They started running school in the management of a committee which is called School Management committee. Now the school runs up to secondary level with qualified, experienced and trained group of dedicated teachers focusing on modern methods of teaching. NEDA wants to keep sister relations to any GOs, NGOs, INGOs and conduct its tasks with according as in the objectives of it's by equal participation with community. Affiliation
Nawa Pratibha English Secondary School is a wing project of NEDA and has recognized by the Department of Education of Nepal Government in 1987 to conduct pre-primary level, 1995 primary level, 2003 lower secondary level and 2004 secondary level respectively. According to the new act 2002 in Education of Nepal Government, the school has recognized as a first community school in Kavre District under the Nepal Government, Department of Education and DEO Kavre. Objectives of NEDA
We believe in action and actual achievement of results rather than in mere assurance. We encourage actual involvement of the students in every aspect of life. It goes without saying that our chief objective is Academic, Vocational, Moral and Physical development of the students & their peripheral surrounding. And thus prepare active and efficient citizen for the nation. We provide them state of the art means to keep peace with ever advancing world. We want to make students disciplined, amicable and cooperative. It is believed that growing children are the power of a family. Attempts are constantly made to make them better off for the family and our nation, too. Primary goals of NEDA
• Provide a safe environment in which each child may develop a positive attitude towards learning
• Provide an academic challenge for students, based on realistic goals, in preparation for further education
• Provide a balanced program of academic study including culture, sports, and recreation to encourage students to think logically and independently, to develop a sense of community, to become responsible citizens and to live energetic, wholesome, and productive lives
• Provide an opportunity for students to develop their cultural values and to respect those of others Develop in students' awareness and an appreciation of the host country's language and culture
• Approach to education for lower class families.
• Focus on ethnic groups
• Provide Scholarship programme for poor, disabled and orphans.
• Dynamic education with modern methodology
• Provide local adult and child literacy programmes.
• Local participatory programme for environment preservation and sanitation.
• Provide technical education as well as vocational trainings to students and community. Management Committee
NEDA is led by management board, which is known as management committee. All the members of Management Committee are elected by General Assembly which will hold twice a year. So, the members of Management Committee are the representatives of community. Present condition
NEDA has three buildings and altogether 18 staffs along with 300 students in the school. The condition of the old building is miserable. It is very weak and leaking. The class rooms are not well furnished and lack of enough light too. A German Professor Mr. Andresh Herman had improved roof of school and students could getting some sympathy in classroom. It is being run with the minimum fees paid by the students and the donation provided by the guardians and well-wishers. The teachers are providing volunteer services in a low cost. Relation with Fukuoka Lions Club
NEDA had proposed Love Green Nepal (A Ngo of Nepal) to construct a school building. Regarding school's problems they found Fukuoka Normalization Lions Club of Japan for funding. Every community people seem smiley and happy with joys after the foundation of new building funded by Fukuoka Normalization Lions Club of Japan & Lions International of Japan. That is well furnished and has four classrooms. While in the construction period people showed their great participation in construction. They raised physical as well as economic donation too. The project could complete with helpful hands with the agreement had done with Love Green. (The new constructed building is not sufficient for a secondary school. Computer Education;
Regarding our guardians' desire and concern towards computer education the school family feels it’s a necessity and all the school staff lent their salaries of one month to buy four old computers and start computer education for all. A New Zealand man, Mr. Rob Buchanan donated a set of computers for the school too. We are finding it difficult to conduct computer class smoothly due to lack of up to date computers. Scholarship
NEDA has being conducted with its minimum donated funds from local people. In spite of their great devotion, NEDA is providing 30% scholarship among all students in various topics. To provide scholarship, the management committee has determined various subjects such as laborers, poor, orphan, ethnic groups, disabled, etc. We welcome any kind of scholarships for our children from individual or company sponsors. LUDESHA-HEPS is also providing the scholarship for 56 students in different levels. Outcome of NEDA
NEDA has been able to impart of quality education among the poor in the rural area in very low tution fee. The school being run in very poor infrastructures has been able to give jubilant result with all the students passed in the distinction, first and district topper in the SLC examination. Future Perspectives
NEDA believes 'in community, with community and for community.' To provide quality and child-friendly education is the motto of NEDA. Besides NEDA has also some CSRs. NEDA want to run a free health camp for the poor villagers, operate ambulance service to them. But due to financial hardship it is lagging behind in its infrastructures. Students are forced to take education under the ruined, old and leaking building. NEDA, a memento of the community is eagerly waiting to go hand-in-hand with other sister organizations, GOs, NGOs and INGOs.
