In early 2025, ATC’s Nepal Soil Health Initiative was honored as one of the 25 Best Practices selected from around the world for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. Since 13 April 2025, our initiative has been on display at the Future Life Village in the Best Practice Area of the Expo, showcased through panels and videos for a global audience over 184 days. On 14 August 2025, during the official Best Practice Day, ATC presented its work on soil health, highlighting the importance of balanced soil management, farmer-led innovation, and AI-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture in Nepal.

नेपालको माटोको अम्लियपन घटाउन प्रयोग हुने “चुन सिफारिस” कति प्रभावकारी छ?

हामीले लामो समयदेखि नेपालको अम्लिय माटोको समस्यालाई समाधान गर्न राष्ट्रिय तालिकागत विधि (NTM) अपनाउँदै आएका छौं। तर के यो विधि वैज्ञानिक रूपमा पर्याप्त छ?
🔍 हालै गरिएको एक प्रयोगशाला अध्ययनमा, NTM विधि र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय रूपमा मान्य SMP विधिबीच चुन सिफारिसको भिन्नता पाइएको छ।

🔎 के पत्ता लाग्यो?
▪️ बलौटे दोमट माटोमा राष्ट्रिय तालिकाले सुझाएको चुन अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय रूपमा मान्य विधिको तुलनामा ३.२ गुणाले कम र दोमट माटोमा १.८ गुणाले कम थियो
▪️ तर चिम्टयाइलो दोमट माटोमा भने राष्ट्रिय तालिकाले १.२ गुणा बढी चुन सिफारिस गरेको पाइयो।

✳️ साथै, चुन सिफारिसको नया गणितीय सूत्र पनि प्रस्ताव गरिएको छ:
अवश्यक चुन = 18.855 − 2.722×(प्रारम्भिक pH) + 1.146×(प्रांगरिक पदार्थ) − 0.068×(चिम्टयाइलो प्रतिसत)

🧮 अध्ययनले राष्ट्रिय तालिका विधिमा सुधारको आवश्यकता देखाएको छ।

जलाउनु नै समाधान होइन: हावा र माटोलाई संरक्षण गरौँ
===============================================

वर्षाको समय धेरै क्षेत्रमा सुरु भइसकेको छ। गहुँ काटिसकेपछि किसान दाजुभाइ दिदीबहिनीहरू धानको बिरुवा राख्नका लागि ब्याड तयार पार्ने काममा व्यस्त छन्। यसै क्रममा गहुँको छ्वाली र अवशेषलाई खेत सफा गर्न सजिलो उपायको रूपमा किसानहरूले जलाउने अभ्यास गरिरहेको पनि देख्न सकिन्छ।

तर,
यो अभ्यासले ठूलो मूल्य चुकाउनुपर्छ।

डाँठ जलाउँदा गम्भीर हावा प्रदूषण हुन्छ, जसले कार्बन मोनोअक्साइड, मिथेन, तथा सूक्ष्म कणहरू (particulate matter) जस्ता हानिकारक ग्यासहरू उत्सर्जन गर्छ—जसले मानिस र जनावरको स्वास्थ्यमा नकारात्मक असर पार्दछ। यसले माटो भित्रका उपयोगी जीवाणुहरूलाई पनि नष्ट गर्छ, माटोको जैविक कार्बन घटाउँछ, र संरचना बिगार्छ—जसले दीर्घकालीन रूपमा उब्जाउपनमा गिरावट ल्याउँछ।

यसका समाधानको लागि वातावरणमैत्री र दिगो विकल्पहरू पनि अप्नाउन सकिन्छ ।
जस्तै
१. कम्पोस्टिङ: बालीका अवशेषहरू कम्पोस्ट गर्दा माटोमा जैविक पोषण थपिन्छ र पानी सम्हाल्ने क्षमता बढ्छ।

२. बायोचार: यसले प्रदूषण कम गर्छ, माटोको स्वास्थ्य सुधार गर्छ, कार्बन सुरक्षित राख्छ, र बाली उत्पादन बढाउँछ।

३. मल्चिङ : बालीको अवशेषलाई खेतमै मिलाएर जैविक पदार्थको रूपमा माटोमा फर्काउन सकिन्छ।

अब समय आएको छ, वातावरणमैत्री अभ्यासहरू अपनाउने।
डाँठ जलाउने अभ्यासलाई छाडौँ र स्वास्थ्य, हावा, र माटोको सुरक्षाका लागि दिगो समाधानहरू रोजौँ।
