Complete Scoring updates and Changes as per Pearson Update that are going to be IMPLEMENTED FROM 7th AUG
Read Aloud Update: = Only contributing marks to Speaking, no more marks for Reading.
Repeat Sentence Update: = SPEAK ALL THE WORDS IN THE CORRECT SEQUENCE
Describe Image & Retell Lecture Update = 1 more mark being added to content = Total 6 marks for content unlike current 5 marks
Answer Short Questions = Only marks to Speaking now. No more marks for Listening
Summarize Group Discussion
3 people will be speaking = 3 min audio length, 10 secs prep time, Need to speak for 2 mins = You can speak up to 80-90 secs.
You might get 2-3 SGD = Marks contribution for both = Speaking and Listening (Content 6, Fluency = 5 and Pronunciation = 5 marks)
Respond to a Situation
2-3 questions can come in exam = Speaking ONLY = Marking contribution = Content 6, Fluency = 5, Pronunciation = 5 marks.
Summarize Written Text
All words capital = 0.
Previous Content marks = 2, Now Content is 4 marks.
Removed spellings marks now from new criteria. So, spelling mistake will get counted as grammatical errors.
ESSAY
ONLY 1 question will come now. Unlike previous 1 or 2.
Content, Coherence and Development = previously 3 marks, now all will have 6 marks.
All capital letters and no punctuation marks in Essay will give 0 directly.
Spellings
No spelling mistakes = 2 marks
1 spelling mistake = 1 mark
More than 1 spelling mistakes = 0
Reading Writing Blanks
Now only gives marks to Reading only, No marks to Writing anymore.
Summarize Spoken Text
Previously content 2 marks, now 4 marks.
All capital letters and no punctuation marks in SST will give 0 directly.
Spellings
No spelling mistakes = 2 marks
1 spelling mistake = 1 mark
More than 1 spelling mistakes = 0
Write From Dictation
Writing extra words will not deduct marks anymore.
Based on this, since we are not going to get marks for reading from Read Aloud, and no marks for writing from Reading Writing blanks, it is going to be tougher to score 79+ in all in Reading and Writing sections, as Reading will be going to become more focused on Contextual understanding and Vocabulary and also writing will be more focused on spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
