Newa celebrate the festival of Gaatha Muga in the Kathmandu Valley and surroundings on the fourteenth day of the month of Srawan (July-August) to honor a demon called Gaatha Muga, that has helped them in the rice plantation. It is one such example of the Newa culture of appreciating anybody who helps them even in the imaginary way.
