Lap length is very important In RCC construction work. The amount of overlapping between two bars is called “lap length”. Lapping is usually done where minimum bending stress is encountered In general, generally lap length is kept as 50d which means 50 times diameter if both bars are of same diameter. When lapping two bars of different diameters, the lap length is considered as 50 times the smaller diameter.
