Maintenance Fund Requirements

Effective from January 2, 2025, international students applying for UK visas will need to demonstrate higher financial resources to meet the updated maintenance requirements:

For students studying in London: The required maintenance funds will increase from £1,334 to £1,483 per month.
For students studying outside London: The amount will rise from £1,023 to £1,136 per month.
These adjustments align with the maintenance loans available to UK-based students, ensuring that international students have sufficient funds to support themselves during their studies.

to eVisas

The UK is transitioning from physical Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) to digital eVisas as proof of immigration status.

BRP Validity: BRPs are valid only until December 31, 2024, even if your course extends beyond this date.
Accessing Your eVisa: Students must create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to access their eVisa, which serves as an online record of their immigration status. It's advisable to set up this account promptly to ensure seamless access.

Considerations: While BRPs remain valid, carrying them during international travel may facilitate re-entry into the UK. However, from January 1, 2025, all visa holders will rely solely on their eVisa for proof of status.

Evisa Implementation:

The eVisa system allows flexibility for students to apply for extensions or changes more seamlessly, as it is a digital system.If the course start date passes while the visa application is still under review, students may discuss deferral options with the university and request an extension or adjustment to their visa conditions. Now students do not need to .

Universities often provide letters of support for deferrals or updated start dates to assist students whose visas are delayed.
