Two years ago today on June 4, 2024, the world observed its first-ever “World Day for Assistive Technology”.

As we mark the anniversary today, OLE Nepal reflects on a simple but powerful belief: learning and communication should be open to all.

For a hearing impaired child in a remote school, that means having lessons explained in Nepali Sign Language. Sanketik E-Paath makes this possible, 280+ free interactive modules in Science, Math, English, and Nepali for Grades 1–6, with NSL video instructions by expert interpreters, accessible at accessible.epaath.olenepal.org.

But a child’s learning doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when a parent can ask “what did you learn today?” and understand the answer. Sanketik Sikai (nsl.olenepal.org) is a free NSL learning platform designed for exactly this so families, teachers, and communities can learn Nepali Sign Language and build real two-way communication with the hearing impaired people they love and support.

And for those who are visually impaired or rely on screen readers, OLEN i-OCR (iocr.olenepal.org) converts scanned Nepali and English documents into accessible digital formats making everything from textbooks to historical records available to all.

OLE Nepal believes that true inclusion isn’t one-directional. It’s a community that can speak, listen, and understand together.
