Scholarships Provided By : Singapore Government

Applicable Subject Areas: PhD study in the field of Science and Engineering

Singapore Government has announced the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) for the academic session starting from August 2015. SINGA is an annual scholarship provision of the Singapore Government under which around 240 students around the globe are provided with opportunities to study subjects of Science and Engineering in some of the most reputed institutes in Singapore. These scholarships are open for International students who have secured very good results in their Post-Graduate/Masters level study. The students selected for the SINGA will be provided with an opportunity to study in any of the following Singapore Universities:

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A* STAR)
The Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
The National University of Singapore (NUS)
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

Singapore International Graduate Award 2015For the selected applicants, SINGA covers the entire cost of tuition expenses, accommodation charges, monthly stipends and airplane ticket fares.

To be eligible for SINGA, the applicants must meet the following criteria:

SINGA is open to all International students, meaning the applicants are neither citizens of Singapore nor have previously studied in Singapore.
The applicants for the PhD programs should be Graduates with exceptional academic track as confirmed by their mark sheets and should be willing to continue to research.
The applicants should hold a proper command over writing and speaking in English.

The application is to be filled and submitted online. The links are provided below. The deadline for application for the August 2015 intake is 1st January, 2015.

International Female Students Helen Lansdowne Resor Scholarship 2015

J. Walter Thompson with 4A’S Foundation, INC partnership awarding Helen Lansdowne Resor Scholarship for international female students . The applicants of the scholarship must be registered in one of the HLR participants undergraduate or portfolio schools student which at least 18 months from their graduation . HLR award to 5 individual worth to $10,000 annual scholarships in five-year program duration. In addition, the HLR scholarship winners will also provided by a summer internship paid between junior and senior year in JWT office in respective region, JWT mentor and first look placement consideration on the graduation. The closing date of the scholarship application in 15th April 2015.

PhD Scholarships 2015-2016 for International Students from University of Edinburgh

Applications are open for international PhD scholarships by University of Edinburgh. There are ten scholarships in minimum available in 2015-2016 session. Each of the scholarships will be worth to £5,000pa, offered for period three years duration. The scholarships awarded based on academic merit requiring candidates to hold an equal first-class honors degree or an upper second-class honors degree coming from recognized institution. For non-native English need to meet University entry requirements for IELTS 6.5 or equal. The closing date of application is 3rd February 2015.

Before you apply

Ncell gives away scholarships and excellence awards

Ncell has handed over “Ncell Scholarships and Excellence Awards” to 16 toppers of Institute of Engineering (IoE) on Monday.

The scholarship awards each carrying a purse of Rs 100,000 were distributed to the best students of Electronics, Electrical and Communication, and Computer faculties of Central Campus Pulchowk, IoE, to promote educational value in the engineering faculty.

Similarly, four others graduating with the highest scores from these faculties were conferred with Ncell Excellence Awards.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we wish to increase such awards every year,” Koirala stated at the program. She also informed that the company and the IoE are in five years agreement to continue the scholarships and excellence awards.

Scholarships were provided to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students based on their annual scores.

Twelve scholarships receivers included 3 toppers each from Electricals, Electronics and Computer faculties and one female topper among all female students from these three faculties.

Ncell Excellence Awards, on the other hand, was given to the graduates passing out with top scores from each of these faculties and also to one female student graduating with top scores among all female students from these three faculties.

“The special category for female toppers aims to encourage female education,” said Koirala.

Speaking at the program, IoE Dean Triratna Bajracharya expressed that the scholarships would promote healthy competition among students and encourage them to do their best. Over 15,000 students compete for the admission in IoE’s entrance exam every year to study in Tribhuvan University’s constituent colleges, he added.

US embassy introduces online visa processing

The Embassy of the United States of America in Kathmandu will introduce a new fee payment, appointment and document delivery service for the non-immigrant visa unit from Monday. There will, however, be no change to the Embassy’s procedures for handling immigrant and diversity visas, said a US Embassy statement.

It replaces the current system of paying application fees and making a visa interview appointment at Nabil Bank locations within the country. Monday onwards, Nepal Investment Bank will be the only bank where service seekers can pay the fee for a non-immigrant visa appointment, the statement read. Nabil Bank will no longer accept visa application fees.

In addition to the new online system, there will be a new call centre with more hours for applicants to obtain information by phone, and by email.

“Travelers will be able to choose one of the six locations across Nepal to pick up their passport and visa after a successful interview. In addition to the on-line system, there will be a new call centre available without charge from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm to answer questions on nonimmigrant visa process,” said the statement.

Travelers who have already applied for a visa, have paid the fees, and arranged for an interview appointment through Nabil Bank are urged to complete the visa process under the current system.

HSEB is likely to publish HSEB result of Management and Humanities 2071 in coming days.Results of science stream was published on 30 august 2014.Of the total 36, 727 examinees who appeared the 10+2 science exams in May under regular category, 25,836 students have passed the exams.Under the regular category 70.43% students have passed the exams. Similarly, under exempted category, 2,621 out of 6842 students have passed the exams. Under exempted category, seven students’ exams have been cancelled.
