🏆 Debate Competition | Results

The final round brought our Top 10 finalists to the floor to debate a timely question for the justice system:

“अदालतमा हुने बहसको प्रत्यक्ष प्रसारण (Livestreaming of Pleadings) ले न्याय प्रणालीमा पारदर्शिता र जनउत्तरदायित्व अभिवृद्धि गर्छ।”

After an impressive final round filled with strong arguments, thoughtful rebuttals and confident advocacy, we are pleased to announce our winners:

🥇 Bimala Dulal — First Place
🥈 Sarbesh Timalsena — Second Place
🥉 Sacheta Adhikari — Third Place

A special appreciation to our distinguished judges, whose thoughtful observations, constructive feedback and words of encouragement made the experience even more meaningful for our students. Their feedback went beyond judging the arguments—it motivated our students to think sharper, argue better and keep improving.

Congratulations to all our finalists for a commendable performance! 👏

The Whitehouse Gazette, our student led initiative, will now be publishing synopsis of landmark cases decided by the Supreme Court.

Did you know? Even without making a specific claim for a sentence reduction, one can still receive it.

Debate Competition | Clinical Law – First Year

As part of their Clinical Law classes, our first-year B.A. LL.B. students put their legal research, advocacy and critical thinking skills into practice through a debate competition.

The preliminary rounds explored challenging issues on legal ethics, mediation in criminal matters, judicial activism, the role of courts, and the relationship between law and morality.

Following the preliminary rounds, 20 students competed in today’s semi-final, with the Top 10 scorers advancing to the final on Sunday, 9 August 2026.

🎙️ Final Debate Topic:
“अदालतमा हुने बहसको प्रत्यक्ष प्रसारण (Livestreaming of Pleadings) ले न्याय प्रणालीमा पारदर्शिता र जनउत्तरदायित्व अभिवृद्धि गर्छ।”

A great opportunity for our students to engage with a real and evolving question in the justice system—and, more importantly, to learn how to argue, listen, question and defend a position with reason and evidence.

Four days of learning, debate, negotiation, and leadership have come to an end.

From drafting bills and debating motions to understanding the realities of public leadership, Law Next 2.0 – Model Federal Assembly gave students an opportunity to experience Nepal’s parliamentary process beyond the classroom.

Our sincere gratitude to Youth Federal Discourse, our Chief Guest Hon. Former Parliamentarian Thakur Gaire, our evaluators, Program Coordinator Prajwol Bikram Rana, the organising committee, faculty, volunteers, and every participant who made this programme a success.

To all the participants—thank you for your passion, preparation, and commitment. We hope this experience inspires you to remain informed, engaged, and ready to lead.

Until next year—Law Next 3.0.

Today’s interactive session with Hon. Judge Neetij Rai was more than a conversation about the legal profession, it was a reminder that every successful journey begins with the courage to take the first step.

His message to our students was simple yet powerful: “Don’t be afraid of failure. If talent isn’t enough, let hard work become your greatest strength.”

Thank you, for inspiring our future lawyers to dream bigger, work harder, and believe in the process.
