NEW SUBSTACK: Most teaching is Communication

From being a content provider to explainer, from being an instructor to assessor, from being a facilitator to feedback giver. Setting up the context. Telling stories. Motivating students. Some pics from the Empowering Hours - August session !
We had a presentation on "Assessing Students' Prior Knowledge" and the rest of the session probed into how teachers can activate prior knowledge in the students and how teachers can think about "activity based learning" from a critical perspective.
Empowering Hours is a monthly sharing platform among passionate teachers. It is organized by the Center for Innovative Pedagogy and Learning at King's College and Unlearn Academy.

Empowering Hours (July session) was all about questioning the assumptions that experts/adults try to force-fit into the learning experience of novices/kids.
Also, during the session, Shreejana Maharjan from K.U. presented her on-going research on Cultural Mathematics, and shared interesting usages of ethno-mathematics in different indigenous communities of Nepal.
