Canopy Nepal is working in the field of education, skill and leadership development, diversity, and inclusions. We seek to improve the quality and efficiency of education by focusing on the learner and reshaping the way we learn. Our programs challenge the very traditional rote learning mechanism which is still prevalent in almost every educational institution in Nepal. We also aim at creating an

environment where we can promote intercultural understanding among diverse groups by the means of various programs. Founded in 2016, Canopy Nepal was born out of the belief that by helping individuals equip themselves with skills and abilities of lifetime importance, we enable them to become self-reliant. We are dedicated to build and sustain a diverse and inclusive culture where people feel valued and respected for who they are as well as for the skills and experiences they bring. Also, we believe in preserving culture and empowering people by working towards the advancement and improvement of intercultural understanding among diverse groups. We work in collaboration with like-minded individuals and organizations to achieve our targets of empowering our beneficiaries with the skills they need to bring about positive change in our community.

The past few days have been incredibly difficult for communities affected by the flooding in Nepal.

At Canopy Nepal, our immediate priority has been checking in with our scholars and their families. We are grateful that most of those we have been able to reach are safe, while we continue trying to connect with others in areas where communication remains disrupted.

In the days ahead, we will continue to stay close to our scholars, understand what support they may need, and help ensure they can return to learning when it is safe to do so.

Our thoughts remain with every family and community affected, and with those working tirelessly on relief and recovery.

Meet Jyoti, our scholar who turns everyday moments into art.

Whether it’s drawing, sketching, or losing herself in a song between classes, Jyoti gives her creativity room to grow. She’s the kind of student who doesn’t let a hard subject stop her, math challenges her, but she keeps showing up for it anyway. As she puts it, science interests her because it helps her understand the world around her.

Curious, creative, and quietly confident, Jyoti reminds us that success doesn’t have to follow one path, it just has to be yours.

We gathered with friends and supporters for our Canopy Fundraiser, held in partnership with Sherpa Snacks. The room was full of warmth, and several guests were moved to become donors right then and there, a moment that truly touched us.

A heartfelt shout-out to Shristi Mishra, a member of our Advisory Board, who believed in Canopy and our vision even before we had a name. Her constant support, from her journey as an educator in Nepal to an entrepreneur in the US, has meant the world to us. To Jeannine, our US chapter board member, who has stood by us since day one as our technical go to person. And to Momo VC, for their generous support of this event.

Fort Worth, we’re coming your way.

As part of Canopy Nepal’s Annual Fundraiser Tour, we’re bringing our next gathering to Fort Worth on August 22 for an evening of community, conversation, and support for quality education in Nepal.

We’re grateful to co-host this event with Questions Camp, Squad HQ Restaurant, and Ashra Acharya from Canopy’s Advisory Board. Their support is helping us bring together people who believe that where a child is born should never determine the quality of education they receive.

The evening will be an opportunity to learn more about Canopy’s work, meet others in the community, and help us expand opportunities for children across Nepal to learn with confidence, express themselves freely, and imagine a better future.
