Opportunity for Dissertation Field Research Grant for M.Phil Students

Central Department of Sociology/Anthropology (CDSA) of Tribhuvan University, Kritipur provides a maximum of 5 M.Phil students (at least 2 from sociology and 2 from anthropology) with an opportunity to apply for a Dissertation Field Research Grant. The amount of research grant is Rs. 35,000 and successful students will be paid in two installments. Students are advised to submit their applications with a copy of research proposals to the CDSA no later than December 25, 2013. Priority will be given to those students who are really in need of financial support and submit a quality proposal. Because of the limited number of research grants, students with other sources of funding will not be eligible to apply.
There is no universal format of a research proposal, but it should clearly spell out the research problems, research questions, research objectives, research methods, and a clear plan of action. Including the list of references, research proposal should not exceed more than 10 pages [double space computer type written].
The research grant is a part of the grant made available by the Second Higher Education Project (SHEP) to CDSA to support M.Phil Program in Sociology and Anthropology.

The Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies (ANHS) annually awards the Dor Bahadur Bista Prize for best graduate student paper submitted to this ANHS competition. The prize honors the life, career, and service of Dor Bahadur Bista, Nepal’s first anthropologist and former Honorary President of the ANHS predecessor organization, the Nepal Studies Association (NSA). The purpose of the Prize is to recognize outstanding scholarship by students whose research focuses on the areas of High Asia (Hindu Kush – Karakoram – Himalaya – Tibetan Plateau) that comprise the principal interests of ANHS

SAARC Cultural Centre, as part of its mandate in promoting cultural diversity in South Asia and part of its research project for 2013-14, is pleased to invite proposals for research on various aspects of the Traditional Knowledge (TK) and Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCEs) of South Asia. The research will give an opportunity for the Member States to conduct in-depth studies on their rich cultural heritage of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions and identify and utilize the productive components of the research for the benefit of their people.
