Our graduate of first batch of BoSS - Abhishek Basnet, recipient of prestigious MEXT scholarship of Japan government at Nagoya University shares his experience studying Bachelors of Social Sciences (BoSS) at National college and leaves some key tips for students pursuing the field.

"Experience in Bachelor of Social Sciences"

4 years of student life in BoSS(Bachelor of Social Sciences) program brought a huge transformation in personal development and view of seeing the world. The human skills and foundation of education in this program have been helping directly or indirectly in my further academic and career life even today. The program expects the students to participate in maximum number of presentations, engage in fieldwork and network building.
I realized significance of these activities when I volunteered in NGO after the great Earthquake of 2015. You need to coordinate, communicate and utilize the best of every knowledge and experience you have acquired.

Suggestions for students who will join BoSS program or have already joined BoSS

1. Try to work on your language ability both English and Nepali in terms of grammar and composition. This will not only increase your ability in communication but also boosts the personality development and networking.

2. Improve the hard skills such as use of Microsoft application, power-point and excel) and SPSS( it is a common program in social science researches) in first two years. Remember our life is sophisticated with technology and its use has become .

3. Whenever you get the chance to present your idea in public. Be not afraid of anything. Just speak. Remember that your success from your mistake is greater than regret of not making an attempt.

4. Try to make a self aptitude test of different subjects that you take throughout the program. It may help you to shape your further academic field or academic career by the end

Bachelors of Social Sciences at National College

For the study of dynamics of the contemporary Nepalese and global societies, and interdisciplinary fields of Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, Politics, etc.

Saurav Tiwari and Ayushi Bista, both from BoSS III year, won the Badminton Competition among the participants of BICC cultural exchange program in China. They defeated the participants from Indonesia in the finals.
