CSRC has been standing with the flood-affected community of Uttargaya Rural Municipality since the very first day of the disaster. Our team continues to support relief efforts by assisting in the community kitchen, ensuring affected families have access to warm meals and care during this challenging time.
Relief & Support Update
Basic food and non-food items were provided to 100 flood-affected residents of Wards No. 1, 2, and 3, Uttargaya Rural Municipality.

Assisted the holding centre caring for 400+ people
Dispatched to Uttargaya: 500 sacks, 500 zebra bags, packaging materials, diesel & petrol
Prepared 485 dry nuts packets for families at the centre
Established a community kitchen at Himalayan Academy, Bidur‑2, serving meals to 50 displaced people from Rasuwa
Supported the rural municipality in packaging 171 assistance kits (food, non‑food items & dignity kits)

On 26 August 2026, a devastating flash flood struck many districts in Nepal, hardest hit in Rasuwa and Nuwakot, claiming lives, destroying homes, roads, and bridges, and leaving entire communities displaced.

Since 2007, CSRC has walked alongside Rasuwa, standing firm for land rights, raising voices on Birta issues, together with the community’s struggle and strength.

Today, CSRC campaigners are already on the ground at Bhumi Ghar Rasuwa, working alongside communities and local government during this time of crisis to support relief efforts, resilience, and the path to recovery.

भूमिहीन–सुकुमवासी व्यवस्थापनमा न्यायपूर्ण समाधान खोजौं

नयाँ सरकारले समाजका कमजोर र भुइँ वर्गको हितमा केही राम्रो गर्ला भन्ने विश्वास थियो । अधिकांश भूमिहीन, सुकुमवासी, श्रमिक, मजदुरी गर्नेहरूले आफ्नो अनि सन्ततिको सुन्दर भविष्यको कल्पना गरी मतदान गर्नु पक्कै गलत थिएन होला ।

भूमिहीन–सुकुमवासी बस्तीमा डोजर चलाउँदा सरकारप्रतिको जनविश्वास कमजोर भएको छ, जबकि समस्या समाधानका लागि गठन भएका आयोग र समितिले अपेक्षित गति लिन सकेका छैनन्।

१२ लाखभन्दा बढी निवेदन संकलन भइसक्दा १०९ परिवारले मात्र लालपुर्जा पाउनु कमजोर कार्यसम्पादनको संकेत हो।

दीर्घकालीन समाधानका लागि बलियो भूमि ऐन, स्थानीय तहको सक्रियता, प्रभावित समुदायको प्रतिनिधित्व र समयसीमासहितको न्यायपूर्ण व्यवस्थापन आवश्यक छ।

Landless to Landowner: Bichhu and Sarita's Story of Dignity

For years, Bichhu Kami and Sarita Bishwokarma lived without secure rights to the land they called home. That changed when they received a land ownership certificate, issued jointly in both their names. "For us, the land certificate is a matter of dignity," Bichhu says.

They are one of nine in Gadhawa Rural Municipality, Dang district, to receive land ownership certificates. Their story reflects the core aim of 'A Safety Net of Innovative Land Tenure Solutions for Near-Landless Sharecroppers and for a Greener Rural Nepal' project, strengthening tenure security for near-landless households, with particular attention to ensuring women and men hold formal rights to land together. is funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) of the Republic of Korea, in collaboration with Ministry of Land Management, Co-operatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration of Nepal and implemented by UN-HABITAT together with the Community Self Reliance Centre (CSRC), Good Neighbors International Nepal (GNI).

In Narainapur, one of Nepal's most flood-prone areas, the Community Disaster Management Committee (CDMC) do much more than respond to emergencies. They verify early warning information, coordinate with local authorities, mobilise volunteers, support vulnerable households, and help communities take action—all before disaster strikes.
For Jubeda Khatun and Hem Kumar Mauriya, Vice President and Treasurer of Narainapur CDMC, participating in flood simulation exercises transformed their understanding of preparedness and early action.
Jubeda and Hem Kumar remind us that investing in local disaster capacity is not simply about preparedness. It is about resilience—it strengthens the people who will make up the community long after a project ends.

सामुदायिक आत्मनिर्भर सेवा केन्द्र तथा राष्ट्रिय भूमि अधिकार मञ्च नेपालको संयुक्त आयोजनामा भूमि कृषि अभियानको अर्धवार्षिक समीक्षा तथा मनन् प्रक्रिया २०८३ साउन, २८ र २९ गते बगरापूर होमस्टे राप्ति दाङमा भयो । दुई दिने समीक्षामा २३ जिल्ला मञ्चबाट भूमि अधिकार अभियानका अगुवा, अभियन्ताहरु सहभागी भएका थिए ।
विगत ६ महिनामा सञ्चालित अभियानका उपलब्धि, सिकाइ र केही आलोचनात्मक सवालहरुबारे मिहीन छलफलहरु भयो । वर्तमान परिवर्तित परिवेशमा जग्गा प्राप्ति अभियानलाई सफल बनाउन तथा लामो पर्खाइमा रहेका भूमिहीन सुकुमबासीलाई जग्गाको अधिकार दिलाउन भूमि अधिकार अभियानलाई अझ शसक्त बनाएर अघि बढ्न आवश्यक रहेको छलफल भयो । स्थानीय सरकार, भूमि समस्या समाधान समितिको तहगत संरचना र यस क्षेत्रका क्रियाशील सरोकारवालाहरुसँग छलफल, संवाद् र सहकार्य बढाएर भूमिहीन दलित, भूमिहीन सुकुमबासी र अव्यवस्थित बसोबासी परिवारको जग्गा प्राप्ति अभियानलाई सफल बनाउन भूमिका खेल्ने योजना पनि तय गरिएको छ ।
कार्यक्रममा कुल ६१ जनाको सहभागीता थियो, ( २२ जना महिला र ३९ जना पुरुष)

CSRC and National Land Rights Forum jointly held a semi-annual Participatory Review and Reflection Process on their Land and Agriculture Campaign on August 13–14, 2026 at Bagarapur Homestay, Rapti Rural Municipality, Dang. The homestay, run by indigenous Tharu communities, hosted two days of dialogue on achievements, lessons, and strategies to strengthen the land rights movement.
Frontline leaders and land rights activists from 23 district forums joined two days of deep discussions on achievements, lessons, and strategies to strengthen the land rights movement.
