Aasha Deep Nepal, a pioneering mental health organization, is celebrating 25 years dedicated to mental health. The organization depends wholly on contributions.

Aasha Deep Nepal was established in 1991 as a non-profit and non-governmental, voluntary social organization. It started its work in partnership with the Sisters of Nazareth to release men and women who were in jail solely due to their mental illness. No hospital facility could accommodate their needs. In addition, families of such patients were had wrong ideas about mental illness due to widespre

ad misunderstanding and stigma in the community. Therefore, these families viewed putting their loved ones in jail as the only alternative to struggling to manage their behaviours at home. Their living conditions in jail were appalling: they were treated inhumanely and had no access to psychiatric treatment. Historical achievements:
Agreement with the Directorate of Jail Administration in 1994 to stop the imprisonment of mentally ill people without criminal offences in jails of Kathmandu valley.
34 out of the 46 mentally ill women from the prison were treated and rehabilitated in the first year. Aasha Deep Nepal has remained dedicated to those with mental illness and extended its services in order to reach more people and work towards our vision of a healthy society where all can live with dignity, justice and respect. How you can help us:
Provide Aasha Deep Nepal with beddings, books, clothes, educational materials, kitchen appliances, personal hygiene items for the patients. Donations:
A contribution of Nrs. 15,000 (US $ 150) covers the food and medication expense of a patient for a month. A contribution of Nrs. 7,500 (US $ 75) provides a patient with linens and blankets for a year. Special Donation:
Individuals/ families or organizations contributing Nrs. 1000 (US $ 10) or more regularly every month will be honored with a Certificate of Appreciation. Aasha Deep Nepal will recognize individuals with a one-time contribution of Rs. 100,000 as “Imminent Personality – Friend of Aasha Deep”. Kindly for donations:
