How 2024 Changed Mt Everest Climbing FOREVER 05/01/2025

I frequently think about Nepal and my time there, mostly to send good karma to all the wonderful and dedicated colleagues from there. Today for some reason I came across a documentary on the new climbing regulations for 2024. I highly recommend it, because it strips away the overly-romanticized vision of summiting.

Reflecting on Ten Years of CCNEPal 03/11/2024

Update: Yesterday the University of Maine at Orono, flagship campus of the U of Maine system, held their "Culturefest" event, celebrating student groups, and the Nepalese Student Group waas there. Forty people are in it and they served momo at the food court. It was a pleasure to meet them all though my Nepali is very rusty.

‘Nurses Have Finally Learned What They’re Worth’ 16/02/2022

This is the best article on the conditions in ICUs in USA since the pandemic. It focuses on "Traveling Nurses" I recommend it highly and I hope it will be widely shared:

‘Nurses Have Finally Learned What They’re Worth’ As the coronavirus spread, demand for nurses came from every corner. Some jobs for travelers paid more than $10,000 a week. Will the boom last?

DocSchmidt on Twitter 20/09/2021

In USA, patients and their relatives formerly showed respect and deference to the advice of doctors and nurses. Similar to Nepal. As many of you are aware, in Nepal there has been a trend toward disrespect which culminates in threats of violence if not outright thrashing. During this period when ignorant people think that covid is a hoax, it is now impacting USA. So when I saw this parody of a know-it-all patient on Twitter I knew I needed to re-post it here. Please feel free to comment and share.
