*Final Day update*
*Motto of the day: All good things come to an end*
We wrapped up the 6 day long school today. The first two lectures introduced a more advanced ideas on tensor network to the participants. Between lectures we also found time to take a group photo with the banner of the school. The extra time around the lunch time was utilized for socializing and sharing ideas. We also interviewed two candidates regarding their experiences during the school.
In the afternoon session Guglielmo presented a talk titled "Perspective on second quantum revolution" which attracted a huge crowd and was met with great enthusiasm as evident from the amount of questions asked during and after the presentation.
Finally, before formally ending the program, Ms. Sobhita Shrestha representing the participants and delivered a heartfelt speech thanking the organizers for the school.
Finally, we would like to thank all participants for being patient with us and thoroughly following the entire school which often times were tiresome given its duration and intensity. We would like to wish all participants for their prosperous career ahead.

*Day 5 update*
We wrapped up exact diagonalization yesterday and started afresh today towards tensor network.
*Motto of the day: Brave new world*
In the first lecture of the morning session today, Guglielmo Lami introduced basics of tensors and tensors network. Following that he briefly talked about the efficacy of tensor networks in many-body physics which he will elaborate tomorrow.
In the second lecture, Nishan Ranabhat conducted a hands-on lecture where the participants learned initialization and manipulation of higher rank tensors. They also learned tensor contraction with np.tensordot() and efficient order of contracting tensors.
The afternoon session was a special one where Dr. Natasa Stojic conducted a Career and Opportunities session where she shared extremely valuable information on building a career in academia targeted towards a young physics students. The participation was overwhelming as evident from the amount of questions asked by the participants.
Tomorrow is the last day of the school. We are looking for a great last day.

Below is the plot of longitudinal magnetization versus transverse field in transverse field Ising model generated by one of our participants during a hands-on session today. The other picture is one of the lecturer, Nishan Ranabhat teaching about the same idea on white board few minutes before the participants generated the results in their laptop.
From having only a very primitive knowledge in quantum spin models and phase transitions to generating a quantum phase diagram with a code written absolutely from the scratch in just 4 days is what we call success. Great job everyone.

*Day 4 updates*
Today was the last day for exact diagonalization. The hard work of last 4 days came to fruition today.
*Motto of the day : learning by doing*
The two classes of morning session were fully devoted to the hands-on tutorial where the participants learned how to implement the U1 symmetry in the XXZ model to block diagonalize the Hamiltonian. They learned first hand why implementing symmetries whenever possible will greatly reduce the computational cost.
The lectures resumed for the afternoon session after the lunch break. This was a special hands-on plus theory lecture where Nishan Ranabhat introduced several interesting topics like phase transition, Z2 symmetry, and symmetry breaking followed by a hands-on session whereby the participants visualised the Quantum phase transition in Ising chain. This was a very special moment where all the codes, linear algebra, and algorithms practiced in the last few days made absolute sense.
Tomorrow we will begin introduction to tensor networks for many-body physics. See you all tomorrow.

*Day 3 update*
We resumed again after a weekend break.
*Motto of the day: Rigor Pays off*
The day commenced with Guglielmo Lami introducing an algorithm to generate the matrix of another very interesting model: The Ising model. In the second lecture of the morning session Guglielmo introduced symmetries and how they help us to block diagonalize the Hamiltonian greatly reducing the computational cost. Specifically, the U(1) symmetry was discussed in relation to the XXZ model.
The participation was the most overwhelming yet with several volunteers called upon to the board for short complementary exercises and filling in the gaps of the derivations.
The focal point of the day was however the lecture given by Prof. Mario Collura on the topic "From classical to quantum phase transitions". The thoroughly rigorous lecture introduced the participants to the idea of phase transitions and criticality building up from the classical systems to the quantum.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day with three hands-on tutorials. Everyone is excited.

*Day 2 Update*
It was a cloudy day in Kathmandu but the school ran on schedule.
*Motto of the day: Break the ice*
Following the introdoctory lectures on day 1, the participants were exposed to the exact diagonalization of a many-body XXZ Hamiltonian. Guglielmo Lami started the day with introduction to the XXZ model followed by algorithm and pseudo codes to diagonalize it. To make the classes more interactive volunteers were called upon to the board to solve simple complimenrary exercises. This was met with great enthusiasm.
In the evening session Nishan Ranabhat conducted a two hours hands-on lecture to implement the algorithm to diagonalize many-body spin Hamiltonians using linear algebra packages in python. The introductory lecture on scientific computing in python conducted on Day-1 turned out to be really helpful here.
Between the intensive lectures and hands-on session we also found time for a group photo.
So much work fot the students! Go ahead. 💪💪💪

We are happy to share that PWF Nepal has officially started today!
**Motto of the day: Communication is the key!**
The event started early at 9 am with the registration and name tag distribution of 28 enthusiastic students. This was followed by a brief welcome speech by Prof. Narayan Adhikari, who is also the local coordinator of the school. Following this Nishan Ranabhat who is also the project coordinator introduced physics without frontiers, its goals, and success stories from previous PWF projects to the participants.
The formal event was followed by two intensive theory lectures by Guglielmo Lami where the participants got a succinct review of quantum mechanics and classical spin models. These lectures will pave way for more advanced lectures that will follow in coming days. The afternoon session was a two hour hands-on lectures by Nishan Ranabhat where the participants were introduced to scientific computing in python and linear algebra packages.
There were very good interactions between speakers and participants, with lots of excellent questions!
Good vibes from the beginning.
