Wonderful experiences in the making and sharing..The SAKSHAM Project (https://libird.org/projects/saksham/), implemented in Doti and Kanchanpur Districts with support from The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through FELM Nepal, successfully completed a validation workshop for the first draft of the Local Disaster and Climate Resilience Framework (LDCRF) for Jorayal Rural Municipality, Doti on 9 November 2025.

This LDCRF is being developed with the goal of integrating disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, and preparedness and response planning into one comprehensive framework aligned with the guideline approved by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).

The whole process was technically facilitated by the Nepal Environmental Research Institute (NERI) in close coordination with the Rural Municipality.
As part of this process, the SAKSHAM Project supported:
➤ Participatory Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Assessments (CVCA) across all wards
➤ Risk profiling and GIS-based hazard and multi-hazard mapping
➤ Stakeholder consultations with elected representatives, and heads of different sections from the Rural Municipality
➤ Focus Group Discussions with farmers groups, PwDs, and community members
Drafting the evidence based LDCRF aligned with local contexts and national policy guidance

The validation workshop marks a key milestone, ensuring that the framework truly reflects ground realities and priorities before final approval and endorsement.

We remain committed to partnering with local governments to build climate-resilient, inclusive, safer, and empowered communities.
