An update on the continuing work on the Shechen Monastery Nepal frescoes by our team of dedicated expert artists who all received complete training from our late Principal Konchog Lhadrepa. The work is now at the final stages of line work. The gold line work is very time consuming as the frescoes here are thangka quality. It is projected to be completed by the end of next year. May all beings be enlightened!

We just wanted our friends and supporters here to know that our Tsering Art School family are all safe at this time of civil unrest and political turmoil in Nepal, so please do not worry. In general the Boudhanath area has not been very badly affected. Today we have no classes, but will resume tomorrow. With our prayers for peace and safety in Nepal 🙏🙏🙏

On Saturday, our second-year students graciously offered lunch to the entire school community to mark the auspicious beginning of their first thangka.
We sincerely appreciate their kind gesture and the sense of devotion and generosity they have shown. As they embark on this important stage of their thangka training, we extend our best wishes for a fruitful and inspiring journey ahead.
May their practice continue with inspiration, patience, and blessings.

Tsering Art School In-Charge: Welcoming Lopon Kelsang Namgyal la and farewell to Lopon Kunga Norbu la
Lopon Kunga Norbu la has lead the school as In-Charge (manager) for the past 3+ years, while our previous In-Charge Lopon Kelsang Namgyal la was in Three-Year Retreat at Shechen retreat centre in Namo Buddha. We now have the auspicious occasion of Lopon Kunga Norbu-la entering into the next 3 year retreat and, after the successful conclusion of his retreat, Lopon Kelsang Namgyal la will return to his previous position as Tsering Art School In-Charge.
This important position has always been held by a Shechen Monastic graduate of the art school. It was created by our late Principal Gen Konchog Lhadrepa around 2004 after the first group of students graduated. Prior to this, our Principal Gen Konchog-la, had performed all the leadership roles of the school, from administration to teaching, to fulfilling commissions, and basically putting his hand to anything that was needed, even fixing toilets if needed!
Creating this role of In-Charge allowed Gen Konchog Lhadre-la to step back from those administrative functions so that he could continue to teach and fulfil commissions for the monastery. Over time, he slowly trained close students to take the teaching roles as well, and over the past 15-20 years Gen Konchog-la focused on training the graduates who joined the Rabsel Thangka Studio in post-graduate studies.
These photographs are of some of our staff members and graduates visiting Lopon Kelsang Namgyal la at the opening of the boundary last month.
We warmly welcome Lopon Kelsang Namgyal back to his position leading the school and know that our late principal Konchog Lhadrepa would have been very proud to see such devoted and sincere dharma activity blossom from graduates such as these.
This Thursday June 5th the first term of school will begin again.
