We are happy to announce a confirmed symposium as part of the 8th International Conference on Mountains in the Changing World from 09 - 10 October, 2026 in Kathmandu, Nepal!

🔬 Symposium Title: Microplastics and Their Impact on Ecosystem and Health

Microplastics (particles < 5 mm) are no longer just a "small" problem—they are a global environmental and health crisis. From the highest mountain peaks to the depths of our food chain, these pervasive pollutants are infiltrating every corner of our planet.

This symposium will bring together the brightest minds in research, policy, and practice to bridge the gap between scientific evidence and actionable solutions.

Key Discussion Themes:

📍 Distribution: Where are they hiding in our soil, water, and air?

🔬 Detection: Innovative techniques for identification and characterization.

🐾 Ecosystems: Impact on biodiversity, food webs, and natural systems.

👤 Human Health: Understanding exposure pathways and toxicological effects.

⚖️ Action: Policy frameworks, mitigation strategies, and public awareness.

Why Join Us?

Our goal is simple: to foster interdisciplinary dialogue that leads to evidence-based solutions and collaborative action at local and global levels. Whether you are a researcher, a policymaker, or an environmental advocate, your voice is vital to this conversation.
