We presented our poster at the 3rd National Wetland Seminar 2026, organised by the Central Department of Environmental Science. This study assesses the ecological condition of a 4.1-km stretch of the Danda River flowing through Siddharthanagar Municipality near the Nepal-India border. The findings of the study show declining river health. This poses risks to aquatic biodiversity and to wetland-dependent livelihoods and cultural practices such as fishing, irrigation, and Chhath, highlighting the urgent need for restoration interventions to stop further decline.

Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA) principles, such as the use of green infrastructure and ecosystem services is a sustainable and cost-effective approach to climate resilience. Through this research, we look forward to integrating EbA into urban stormwater management strategies as its application in stormwater management remains underexplored in Nepal.
