अलिअलि बुझ्ने तर लेख्न/बोल्न समस्या छ भने This course is perfect for you!

Paragraph:

English pronunciation can be tricky for learners, especially when words look similar but sound different. Practice is key to mastering the sounds, stress, and intonation patterns of the language. Listening to native speakers and repeating after them can help you improve your pronunciation.

1. One Symbol, One Sound
Each symbol in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) represents one sound, not a letter. For example:

cat = /kæt/

fish = /fɪʃ/

2. Vowels and Consonants

Vowels: Represent sounds like /æ/ (cat), /iː/ (see).

Consonants: Represent sounds like /p/ (pen), /tʃ/ (chop).

3. Stress Marking
In multi-syllable words, use ˈ to show primary stress on a syllable:

banana = /bəˈnɑːnə/ (stress on the second syllable)

4. Use of Schwa (ə)
The schwa sound /ə/ is the most common vowel sound in English, often occurring in unstressed syllables:

sofa = /ˈsəʊfə/

about = /əˈbaʊt/

5. Silent Letters
Silent letters are not written in phonetic transcription:

knight = /naɪt/ (no /k/ sound)

bought = /bɔːt/ (no /gh/ sound)

6. Diphthongs
Diphthongs are combinations of two vowel sounds in one syllable. For example:

coin = /kɔɪn/

down = /daʊn/

7. Consonant Clusters
When two or more consonants appear together, each one is transcribed:

stop = /stɒp/

plant = /plænt/

8. Voicing and Aspiration

Voiced sounds (like /b/, /d/, /g/) are made with vocal cord vibration, while voiceless sounds (like /p/, /t/, /k/) are not.

Aspiration (breathing) is shown with a superscript h:

top = /tʰɒp/ (aspirated 't')
