NARC को नेतृत्व परिवर्तन: दृष्टिदेखि कार्यान्वयनसम्म निरन्तरता र नयाँ नेतृत्वबाट अपेक्षा

नेपाल कृषि अनुसन्धान परिषद् (NARC) का नवनियुक्त का.मु. कार्यकारी निर्देशक डा. श्रीमत श्रेष्ठज्यूले आज मिति २०८३/०१/२३ गते परिषद् केन्द्रीय कार्यालयमा पदभार ग्रहण गर्नुभएको छ।

यस अवसरमा, निवर्तमान कार्यकारी निर्देशक डा. कृष्ण प्रसाद तिम्सिनाज्यूको कार्यकाललाई NARC विशेष रूपमा स्मरण गर्दछ। मिति २०८२/०२/१२ गते कार्यकारी निर्देशक पदमा नियुक्त हुनुभएका डा. तिम्सिनाज्यूले छोटो कार्यकालमै कार्यमुखी र परिणाममुखी नेतृत्व प्रस्तुत गर्दै परिषद्लाई सुधार र रूपान्तरणको स्पष्ट दिशातर्फ अग्रसर गराई राष्ट्रिय कृषि अनुसन्धान प्रणाली (NARS) को सुदृढिकरणमा निरन्तर पहल गर्दै महत्वपूर्ण योगदान पुर्‍याउनुभयो।

उहाँको नेतृत्वमा परिषद्ले हासिल गरेका उपलब्धिहरूलाई निरन्तरता सहित थप आयाम प्रदान गर्दै अझ प्रभावकारी, नवप्रवर्तनशील र परिणाममुखी कृषि अनुसन्धान प्रणाली तथा प्रविधि विकासमा उल्लेखनीय योगदान पुग्ने विश्वास व्यक्त गर्दछौं।

Today, at the Central Office of the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), Hon. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Geeta Chaudhary, formally assumed the chair as Chairperson of the NARC Council and graced a briefing programme.

During the programme, the Hon. Minister appreciated NARC for its notable contributions and achievements in the agricultural sector, while noting that more remains to be done to address emerging national needs. She emphasized that agricultural research is a top priority of the Ministry and reaffirmed NARC’s position as the national agricultural think tank and the lead institution for technical backstopping to the sector.
The Hon. Minister directed NARC to update and publicly disseminate expert rosters with areas of specialization so that farmers’ problems can be addressed promptly. She stressed that research should not remain confined to laboratories, but must be closely linked to land, farms, and farmers through stronger field engagement of scientists. She also instructed NARC to ensure rational human resource mobilization, maintain technical preparedness for emerging crises, promote research on soil health and alternatives to chemical fertilizers, retain and motivate scientists, conserve indigenous landraces and germplasm resources, and strengthen farmer awareness and outreach.

She further highlighted the need for stronger collaboration with universities and academic institutions to avoid duplication of resources and maximize national research efficiency.

The Hon. Minister also expressed her readiness to lead and facilitate policy-level, legal, and ministerial coordination issues.

Executive Director Dr. Krishna Prasad Timsina presented an overview of NARC, highlighting its achievements, priorities, research reorientation, recent initiatives, and a KPI-based work plan aligned with the Government of Nepal’s governance reform agenda.

The programme was attended by Central Office Directors, NARC-Khumaltar Office Chiefs, Division Chiefs, scientists, and technical, finance, and administrative staffs.

Executive Director of NARC, Dr. Krishna Timsina attended two important events last week.

In Kathmandu, he attended the 16th National Horticulture Seminar-2026 on “Floriculture Business in Nepal: Challenges and Opportunities,” organized by Nepal Horticulture Society with collaborating institutions, where he highlighted the role of research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and market linkage in advancing Nepal’s floriculture sector.

At Lumbini Buddhist University, he addressed the Conference on Deep Regenerative Agriculture, bringing together experts and stakeholders from Nepal, India, and Bhutan. He shared NARC’s ongoing initiatives and vision on regenerative, climate-resilient, and biodiversity-based agriculture through partnership, knowledge exchange, and science-led transformation.

As the leader of Nepal’s National Agricultural Research System (NARS), NARC continues to advance research, strengthen collaboration among all stakeholders, provide technical backstopping, and promote evidence-based policy support for sustainable agricultural development.

Gratitude and Felicitation with Farewell Honor!

Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) organized a special program on gratitude and felicitation with farewell honor today at its central office in Kathmandu. The program honored the Honorable Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development and NARC Chairperson, Dr. Madan Prasad Pariyar, on the completion of his ministerial tenure, along with MoALD Secretary Dr. Deepak Kumar Kharal, on the occasion of his retirement from civil service.

On behalf of NARC, Executive Director Dr. Krishna Prasad Timsina presented letters of gratitude to the Honorable Minister and the Secretary.
The event was more than a farewell; it served as a moment of gratitude, reflection on key achievements, and a foundation for future pathways in strengthening Nepal’s agricultural research system.

The program highlighted significant progress in policy reforms, institutional development, and strategic direction achieved under the leadership of the Hon. Minister as well as the contributions of Dr. Kharal in his role as secretary and NARC Council Member.
The contributions have been instrumental in shaping and strengthening agricultural research and development in Nepal.

The program was attended by MoALD Secretary Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra, NARC Council Members, Directors, Scientists, and officers.
