📢 Important Update: UKVI Student Sponsor Compliance Changes from 1 June 2026

The UK Visas and Immigration has introduced a new Basic Compliance Assessment (BCA) framework, replacing the previous system. This includes updated compliance thresholds, a new Red-Amber-Green (RAG) rating system, compliance actions, and transition arrangements.

Key Change: RAG Rating System

The RAG rating is based on a sponsor’s lowest-performing metric—not an overall average.

This means strong performance in one area will not make up for poor performance in another.
For example, if a sponsor is Red for visa refusal rate but Green in enrolment and completion, the overall rating will still be Red.

BCA Requirements from 1 June 2026

To meet compliance requirements, sponsors must achieve:

✅ Visa refusal rate: below 5%
✅ Enrolment rate: 95% or above
✅ Course completion rate: 85% or above

Course Completion Transition Period

📅 1 June 2026 – 31 May 2027
• Minimum course completion rate: 85%
• Falling below this may lead to compliance action
• Course completion will not be included in the first RAG rating during this period

📅 From 1 June 2027
Sponsors must meet:

✅ Visa refusal rate: below 5%
✅ Enrolment rate: 95% or above
✅ Course completion rate: 90% or above
