2026-2027 Master's and Doctoral Degree Program In Korean Studies

The Graduate School of Korean Studies, the affiliated institution of the Academy of Korean Studies(AKS) has been selected as one of the designated Korean universities which applicants can choose to study for their Master’s or Doctoral degree program.

ㅇ Fields of Study : 13 majors in Korean-related Humanities and Social Sciences
ㅇ Eligibility : Foreign nationals or overseas Koreans / Applicants holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
ㅇ Language Requirements
- Applicants for Korean Culture Studies: Valid English test score (TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS Academic 6.5 / TEPS 301 or higher)
- Applicants for other majors: TOPIK Level 4 or higher
ㅇ Scholarships and Benefits
- Full tuition waiver during the entire period of study
- Government scholarship for 15 newly admitted students: KRW 800,000 per month for one year

[2026 Global Korea Scholarship Graduate Degrees (GKS-G) Application Notice]

Korean Government’s Global Korean Scholarship Program aims to invite international students who wish to pursue graduate degrees in Korea.

1. Number of Scholarships Available for the Embassy Track (Nepal): 4 (Four)

2. Programs: 1 year of Korean language study + 2 years (Master’s) / 3 years (Doctoral) study

3. Universities: Applicants can only apply to the universities and departments that are listed in “University Information” attached with this notice

※ When applying for the Embassy Track, you must include at least one B-type university in the “University Information” list out of the three colleges you wish to apply for.

4. Eligibility
- Nationality: Nepali
- Education: (Master’s) Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree / (Doctoral) Minimum of Master’s Degree
- Grade: CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of the entire curriculum from the previous degree program must meet one of the conditions below.
① Score percentile should be 80% or above on a 100-point scale or be ranked in the top 20% of one’s class
② GGPA must be equal to or above 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5 or 3.23/5.0
- Age: Must be under 40 years of age (Born after September 1, 1986) or under 45 years of age (Born after September 1, 1981) if an applicant is a professor
- Health: Must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study in Korea for the full duration of the program

5. Application Method: Online application through the website (www. Studyinkorea.go.kr)

6. Application Period: February 12 (Thursday) 07:45 ~ February 23 (Wednesday) 14:45 (Nepal Time)

7. Interview: Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the interview.

8. Application Guideline: Please go through the Application Guidelines, Application Forms and University Information before submitting the documents.

※ Note:
- Applicants must have obtained the required degree by July 31, 2026. Applicants who are expected to graduate by July 31, 2026 can also apply for the program with a certificate or expected graduation. Such applicants must submit their official graduation certificate (or diploma) and final academic transcript to GKS center, NIIED by July 31, 2026. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of your acceptance.

- All the required certificates must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the Government of Nepal.

- Documents written in languages other than English and Korean must be attested by MoFA, and their certified translation must be submitted.

- The required certificates will be Consular Confirmed by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal for the successful candidates after the interview round.
